i was wondering if it was possible to make an icon move from say the "play movie" button to "chapter selection"like on original dvd's
not using the words to highlight the buttons but making an icon jump from play to chapter selection

thanks

I don't think that's what graham23s was asking for. You want an arrow that points at one selection, and when you move your mouse, the arrow disappears from the first selection and appears in front of the second selection, right?

To do this, create a subpicture that has arrows pointing at each of the selections. Then in the authoring program, include the arrow in the outline of the button. Set the colors of the subpicture so that the arrow is transparent when it is not selected--that will make it appear only then the button is selected.

A neat effect I saw on the DVD for Big Trouble in Little China was to use glowing arrows. For this, you'd put the arrows in the background video, then use the subpicture to mask them when a button is not selected (the video was mostly black, and the subpicture masks would be black when not selected and transparent when selected).

thanks for replying guys

McPoodle that was exactly what i was after i have seen it on so many dvd's and it always bugged me how it was done so the 2 or whatever number of icons are always there it's just when you move up or down that they appear is that right?

i am going to definitley stick with this method to see if i can master it lol

Thanks again

Graham
