echoed sound, how solve it?

Hi all
During the processing of Kubrick´s Dr. Strangelove with DVD2SVCD, I have appreciated that the SVCD audio reproduction in the PC seems to be echoed, as when one speaks in front of a tin.

Facts:
1.
Happens in english and spanish soundtracks (both AC3 2.0 Mono); other, non-tested. Have not tested in the Desktop DVD + TV
2.
Checked to occur in Mp2 generated with BeSweet 1.5b11, HeadAC2he, Wav2MP2 from the AC3s.
3.
Checked that it already happens in the AC3 ... (extracted by DVD2SVCD)
4.
Tried to mitigate with equalization feature of BeSweet, using
Shibata´s equalizer with WinAmp thanks to WinAmpAC3 plugin. The equalization works but is not a good solution.
5.
Tried to downmix to mono, etc, without better results. Perhaps with
an audio editor?
6.
Already experimiented same cases with old mono films (Arsenic and
Old Lace)

Questions:
a.- Anybody can confirm this echo effect in this film or other?
b.- Any better way to extract the AC3s?
c.- Anyway to remove it?
d.- Is it related to the AC3 2.0 mono mastering?
e.- Can be related to the PC playing?

Usually it happens with AVIs that have two sound tracks (as you have). When both of them playing simultaneously it creates echo effect. Only one track should be played at one time. Solutions:

1. Use BSPlayer. It have prowerful support for AVIs with multiple audio streams.
2. Use Morgan Stream Switcher. It allows you to switch tracks from almost any player. But sometimes it may bring you some troubles.

Thanks Valex,
but I think it is not player related.

I was playing a SVCD generated with DVD2SVCD. I use to play
it in the PC the SthSVCD player from Herosoft. When I noticed it,
I came back to the sound streams, i.e., the .mp2, playing them
with, for example, WMediaPlayer. Later I found out that it was
already in the .AC3s, which I played with your WinAmp plugin.

I checked it both in Windows 98 and in Windows XP.

So, any further ideas?

by the way, I discovered in SthSVCD an "echo control". Using it
I am almost able to remove the efect at play time.
