Can you change settings then RECOVER?

Backed up a DVD and it went to 3 CDs instead of 2, looks like it was just a couple minutes over the 3 CD bitrate threshold.

I tried changing the Bitrate screen and then using RECOVER (Video Encoding) but it still used the 'old' bitrate settings and gave me 3 CDs again. My goal is to avoid redoing the audio and vaf steps.

Can I manually edit the d2s file or one of the INI files so that RECOVER grabs the new settings? What entries do I change...is there bitrate entry or a "#of CDs" entry somewhere?

Yes you can do this, but it's not recommended. If you must do it anyway, don't edit the .d2s, just change the settings in the GUI.

You can open your recoverproject and change the bitrate _after_ this. Most time this works, but sometimes all messes up. Try at own risk.

But, if you do want to make changes, do so after you've loaded the d2s project file otherwise your changes will be lost.

I must agree. After finishing the audio-processing, i decide to change
the audio-bitrate.
To spare the dvd2avi-project and audio-extraction,i choose Recover -> 'Audio-Processing' option, and dvd2svcd starts with 'Audio-Processing', but with the old value.
So i've to start from beginning, although there exists dvd2avi-project and ac3-file...
Perhaps in one of the next versions it's possible to skip actions or repeat actions with changed values, dvd2svcd would be oncemore a bit flexible i think

Ripping that is one of the things that should work fine. You need to load in the new bitrate AFTER loading the d2s file otherwise it will be overwritten by the value in the d2s file.

i thought this was a feature of dvd2svcd... ive used it TONS OF times without problems! u goto recover and load the d2s file then make your changes and then click recover... unless something has changed in one of these new versions...

no nothing has changed in DVD2SVCD, but there have always been certain changes that can cause problems. While others don't.
Ones I know of is if you use it to change the CD size.
If you use it to change Encoders.
If you use it to change the number of cd's.

These and others can cause problems. Not all setting changes do. That is why the MAY is in the wording.

Notice the wording of the Q+A question. Adding a step, changing encoders. These are major changes.

What most people use recover for after they have the hang of DVD2SVCD is not what recover was intended for, but it works most of the time for them anyway. Just know that if the final product is not what you expected or have a problem and did use recover before you blame anything else start over.

go to your:
"default output folder"
than edit:
dvd2svcd.ini.
change what you want !!!!

after open dvd2svcd program and in the
"misc tab"
click recover
than continue from a pass before your changes.

ex:if you change your "video encode"
than continue from that.(sorry for my poor english)

i do it all the time testing scripts
(i test more than 50 scripts with the same bitrate and audio,than
i edit dvd2svcd.ini(change the script)and continue from "video encode".)

ps: you can click:
load settings,
in misc tab then load dvd2svcd.ini
from your default output folder
and change what you want too!

test with a simple chapter ,ok?

works very fine!

Doing it in the correct order (opening the d2s, making changes) allowed me to mess with the bitrate settings and go from 3 to 2 CDs. thx

I don't want to make you mess with anything there, but just to start from a different step, in dvd2svcd project file, change the project position to 62. Then, you can start from whatever stage you want.
