Is the CCE standalone faster then the integrated Premiere version

Wondering which is faster the Premiere version or the Standalone.

Perhaps they do not know. I've tried it and it seems a lot, lot, LOT, slower than the standalone encoder. On a 1.2gig Athlon, a 1 pass VBR run on an hour of footage took 36 hours! On the standalone this would be 1.5 hours.

But this test is the cracked 2.5 version.

My studio has just bought the 2.64 version (from a professional's point of view, it is astounding value for money) and I'll let you know what results I get.

I think the speed of the encoder is the same... but Premiere is a lot slower. If you use the Premiere plug-in with Flask Encoder it is very fast...

Why don't you simply try it and find out instead of insulting everyone in this forum? In the 5 days you waited for a response you could have tried it.

I suppose it is easier just ask questions instead of trying new things, but hey, thats how we learn. And isn't that the purpose of these forums? To learn and share new ideas? Just a thought.

First of all I was simply making an observation not a jugement. If you want to know how something works, try it. All you would have to do is try a 10 min clip and see the results. I doubt it would have taken you 2 days to complete. As a matter of fact, you could have posted your results for other users benefit.

Second, I doubt you will get a whole lot of help on your real problems in the future if you treat others this way. Besides breaking forum rules, you are rude.

Hi as...kingshiz!

Premiere (and any other video editing software) always work in RGB collor space-
standalone CCE can read the file(if codec is suitable)
directly in YUV (without YUV->RGB->YUV conversion),so
it should be faster.

Hey...I can't get to change the frame rate when I am bout to export the Timeline in Premiere with the CCe encoder.
It is LOCked at 1 fps...and then CCE says ...it can't encode at 1fps......grrrrr

I can change the frame rate if I use another encoder like Ligos.......or just plain avi/divx

anyone seen this...I use Premiere 6.0

Hi Mosaic,

Had the exact same problem in Premier 6.0. I assume you are using CCE 2.5 ? You need to install an newer version, 2.62 or 2.64 .. Solved the problem for me.

I like the standalone better. I have CCE 2.62 along with it's Premiere plugin. For some reason I can't ever get the plugin version to do VBR encoding. It gives me an error message everytime! The standalone version work fine every time. Never had a hick-up yet.
