Foreground, Background, Segmentation masking?

Just wondering are there any recommended methods / filters / scripts for foreground / background or general object segmentation for Vapoursynth?

I don't think anything has been ported specifically to vapoursynth. However you could run an external tool to output mattes, then process those in vapoursynth somehow. I'm not really sure what your objective is, so maybe that wouldn't be useful for you though.

Got no imminent usage.
I just sometimes would like to filter the backround more (usually sharpen or blur it a bit) than the backround and since I didn't know anything (motion/luma masking wasn't really reliable) I though I ask wether there is a way for it, of which I'm simply not aware of.

I was surprised actually, that this is a part of nowadays NLE releases, used with filters, example, like adding UFO, passing behind a house, in general to get rid of rotoscoping etc.
