Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra V9.0 and V8.0.2217.50
I just obtained the newly released Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra 9.0.
What I have noticed is that with the newly released PowerDVD Ultra 9.0, my BD-5 and BD-9 discs are being recognized as AVHCD Discs, and the movie would play without any sound. So I guess Ultra 9.0 isn't the player of choice with BD-5 or BD-9. Does anybody notice this?? PowerDVD V8.0.2217 seems to play my BD-5 and BD-9 just fine. This is just an observation of mine. Others may experience slightly different results. Let's discuss it here. Thanks Last edited by tyau; 12th March 2009 at 04:50. |

I also had the OEM version of PowerDVD that came with my LG GGC-H20L drive, but considering all the issues being mentioned with each of it's updates, boy am I glad I didn't go with that as my main player.... and pour more $$$ for their supposed upgrades.
And though I bought TMT for a very decent promo price, I'm not even sure I needed that neither?? Sure TMT is pretty decent, but also does have a couple quirks as well. And considering that I can now use MPC-HC to view all Bluray content (individual m2ts files or full disc), and VLC & WMP-11's ability to play those m2ts files as well... I really didn't have to buy any commercial player at all.... ![]() ![]() OK, there have been some Blurays that I couldn't find the right filter combo to play correctly on MPC-HC.... so I guess TMT was a good buy...lol

Yup. The new version isn't even worth buying if you have a backup collection of discs. Version 9 also doesn't play my original Transporter 3 blu-ray disc properly; the center channel speaker has some static noise that is due to the 7.1 DTS decoding. It doesn't happen in either version 7 or 8.
