Status says encoding completed, but indicator doesn't

Just had an encoding complete, I think, but ran across this:

The overall progress indicator says it's at 95.9% while the status window says encoding is complete. See the attached screenshot. Is this a known thing ? I know it's done but it's not right...

Had it happen on a 2nd job now...

Is this related to running multiple encoder processes ? I just turned this on in the past day or two.

I'm pretty sure that's *not* the case. When doing a prepare, it goes to 100%. When doing an encode, if I recall correctly from previous runs, it went to 100%. A rebuild would do the same, start at 0 and go to 100%. I don't do one-click mode. If so, yes, I could see it that way.

I don't recall if I did on both, but it's possible I ran FixVTS on one (or both).

Off-topic: Anytime people have a problem with a dvd rip, people say "run FixVTS on it". Is it a bad idea to use all the time ? I'd presume it only "fixes" files if something is truly wrong with them.

FixVTS is like a mini mock strip with Ifoedit. It fixes some pointers and removes unreferenced material.

I vaguely recall running IFOedit in the past, was completely confused by it, and didn't bother.... VOBblanker is even worse ! That's why I like FixVTS.

I'm off to the other forums here for help with ripping (properly) Pirates 3. The beta of DVDFab didn't work, unless I broke it by running FixVTS, though others at other forums have done the same. I just downloaded the beta for AnyDVD and it's ripping as I type. I wish DVD-RB would tell me it was no good before I get all the way to the rebuild steps, hours later !

I understand though that that's not what this app is for.

Read other posts here and you'll see that it is easy to see if the source material is no good before you do an encode.

If you encounter a cell without video (2k only), DVDRB will not encode it properly, as the source is bad. You could try blanking such cells in DVDRB.

This one I definitely did NOT do any processing on. Ripped with DVDFab 4.0.1.6 (beta).

I cannot see your attachment (still pending), but if it is concerning the movie you were not able to rip with DVFab 4.0.1.6 (post 8), the fact that there is a disconnect between completion and the overall progress bar might be a good think. It is a warning that the rip is wrong (I counted 11 2k cells (cf post 9 of this thread)). And if you did not blank them (FixVTS or Vobblanker) they are still there.
I you really want to make a backup (without cleaning 11 2k cells), you can use DVD Shrink (it will allow you to make a backup, but the structural deficiencies of your rip will still be there) or , better , wait for 4.0.2 or a latter version of DVDFab and use DVD-RB.

You might be better off ( for now ) to clean those 2k cells (cf post 9) and use DVD-RB.

I can't seem to find the thread at the moment, but I remember a previous incident much like this. Wasn't the cause of it the cleaning of the DVD? Getting rid of all the crap and unreferenced material might have caused it.

My memory may be off though :P

Here's another job, this one had the new option in DVD Fab un-checked, but I still get an incorrect % done value. I did NOT do any processing of the source before running DVD-RB.

I am not an expert.
After loading the IFO file ( the one coming directly from the rip) , do you have the same figure for Initial and Final size (top part of the window) ?
Then, you have to go to each Titleset , select one PGC from that tiltleset, click on The Cell Button and look at if you have cells with a 2k size.
I will look first in the largest titleset (Main movie), longest PGC.

Open the DVD in VobBlanker by dragging and dropping VIDEO_TS.IFO on it. Then go to the main movie - the biggest VTS. Double click on the bottom and view the cells screen. The size of each cell is displayed.

But I thought this option was meant to ensure there were no cells without video.

No, other than (maybe ... from memory) turning off all languages except English and ALL sub-titles. Hmmm, can't think of anything else off-hand.

I don't use RBOpt.
