any advice for DV-> x264 ?
well, I try some megui profiles and bitrate, but i dont obtain a good result.
I have all DV content in separates avi in 720*576 25p interleaced I want to save a master in h264, and later, use this master to build a DVD. please, any sugestion about avisynth script to use and x264 settings? for now, i only obtain a mediocre IQ thank |

DV content (recorded by yourself ?), unless you had your camera on a stand, is typically full of movements (and full of noise if you filmed in dark places). Those shaky movements make the contents hard to compress. You shouldn't expect to use a certain bitrate, but you should choose a certain quantizer (quantizer=18 should be fine if you need a "transparent" master to work with later).
No particular GUI is better for this, it's just the way video encoding works => noisy and shaky pictures don't compress well.

Just an idea: Use "stack field" filter, encode as progessive h.264 and later use "unstack fields" to get back the interlaced video for DVD. The intermediate H.264 will be "unwatchable", but it should do the job...
