AVC Decoding via FFDSHOW Postprocessing Help
i have a small question, when decoding x264 encoded avc video via ffdshow, what postprocessing settings should i use, or should i turn off postprocessing in ffdshow?

none. AVC has inloop deblocking and doesnt need post processing.

Than how do you explain that recoding a h264 source (to xvid for example) using constant quantizer, I get much smaller size (about 20%) if I put maximum postprocessing compared to no postprocessing? (and the source was very good quality by the way).

coz postprocessing blurs the image and remove details (and we dont want that) thus rising the compressibility... while loop deblocking is applied only where the encoder chosen to apply it.

Because the max postprocessing will be blurring the h264 source.
Hence better compressability. edit: Sharktooth beat me.

Well, I understood that. I just missunderstood Sharktooth's reply for "don't use postprocessing because it doesn't do anything", instead of "it will just make things worse". All clearer now.
