Where is this frame rate counter coming from?

First of all, hello to everyone!

I'm having a strange problem here... Whenever I play a movie using Media Player Classic, I get a frame rate counter at the top right corner of the screen, and I don't know how to take it off...

My video card is an ATI X600 XT PCI-E, using latest Catalyst drivers (v5.13), and ATI Tray Tools v1.0.5.815

* The problem only happens when I use MPC VMR9 windowed, or VRM9 renderless:
- When I use VMR9 windowed, the frame rate counter appears at the top right corner of the video window at all times and window sizes...
- When I use VMR9 renderless, the counter only appears if I go to full screen, or if I stretch the video window until it reaches the size of my desktop resolution...

This problem seems to be related to DirectDraw or Direct3D, as some emulators which use DirectX also present this problem...

Does anyone know the source of this frame rate counter? Please help me, I want to keep using VMR9 renderles because it allows me to use the bicubic resize which is sharper, and also allows me to use those cool shader effects.

There's your problem: that's ATI Tray Tools' FPS counter, which kicks in as VMR9 is using DirectX to display your video and not the overlay - MPC using VMR9 looks just like yet another 2D/3D application to ATI Tray Tools.

AFAIK there's an option to disable the FPS counter for certain executables, so if you add mplayerc.exe to the list the FPS counter will vanish - or you could just check the "hide" option for the FPS counter in ATT's OSD settings.

(Disclaimer: I'm just going from memory here as I don't have an ATI card at work...

)

Bingo!! I never messed with ATI Tray Tools OSD options before, because I didn't want to use them...
I also wrongly assumed they wouldn't be activated by default. :-/
