Problem with a coby portable DVD player

People,
I have a problem with my Coby portable DVD player DVD7100. When I play a 4:3 movie (like old movies or TV series), the thing displays it as a 16:9 widescreen and everything is squashed down.
I tried adjusting that in the setup, setting the "tv type" to 4:3 to no avail.
Has anybody had the same problem? Is my unit defective or am I doing something wrong? Customer support was not tremendously helpful on that one...

Well if you set it up as 4:3 and it displays 16:9 then it has a problem IMO.

Check and see if it has a variable zoom to compensate.

Regards,

Well, I found out how to change that! The customer support people didn't know that, but it's written in the manual (in tiny letters, and there's no index, so don't blame me).
In case someone runs into the same problem, push the "LCD Mode" button, then push the right or left arrow, and you'll switch from 16:9 to 4:3 display....
Cool! Now I can watch movies the way there are supposed to be!
