avi 4cc xvid or divx4? (4cc (strh) = xvid, 4cc (strf) = divx)

Hi

I've come by a few avi files where the strh fourcc is xvid and the strf fourcc is divx.
All the major identifiers as gspot, mediainfo, videoinspector and virtualDub identies this as DivX4.
What I find strange is why the DivX4 codec would put xvid in the strh fourcc....
Is this just the result of someone tampering with the fourcc's?

Can anyone explain this?
