Creating a movie file with high fps count?

hello,

I want to create a movie file with a high fps count (480 fps or even 1000fps) from still frames. I don't really know much about video encoding and containers to be honest - pretty much only used handbrake till now.

I guess displaying films at a higher fps count is very processor intensiv and I am not quiet sure if this is even possible.

any help would be very appreciated

Not only is it highly CPU intensive, but on what kind of display would you even want to display it? Consumer displays do 120 Hz at best, mostly only 60 Hz.

I know it's not practical and it isn't meant to be, actually it's research for a art project.

I know though there are Plasma TVs that have a refresh rate up to 600Hz, not to sure where the limit there is.

Even those 600 Hz displays only use some internal processing to upconvert the input signal to 600 Hz. You cannot simply send 600 Hz to the Plasma over HDMI or DisplayPort.

I have one of those 600 Hz plasma displays. The 600Hz is some internal something, the higest frame rate it accepts is 60 fps.

AFAIK, the easiest way to have a setup capable of playing "super" high framerates is to use a PC with a monitor capable of high refresh rates. Even in such a situation, 120Hz is likely to be on the upper end of the refresh rate you'd have available, and this would work best with SD-level resolutions as you'll also need a high horizontal refresh rate to hit a high vertical rate (think of it this way - NTSC is 15KHz horizontal 60Hz vertical interlaced, and a CRT running at a similar resolution and 60Hz vertical but progressively scanned has double the horizontal rate at 31KHz, so changing the refresh rate to 120Hz would roughly double that once again, requiring around 72KHz horizontal refresh).
