an interestng question

Hi
I just wanted to encode part of a movie.
So I split that part. Then I reencode that part.
Then I wanted to put it back in its place in that movie. But I couldn't. Because it told me that the style of the Mpegs are different.
So , how can I reencode an mpeg , with original setting. I mean , I wanna to reencode a movie by tmpg , with out seting anything. Just set everything as it is in original mpeg.
How ?

I'm #135. I don't know the answer either.

Typically, you won't get a reply unless someone knows the answer.

If I had to guess, I'd say you need to make sure the video resolution, video framerate, audio sample rate, and possibly the audio and video bitrates need to match for you to join them.

But ... unless you had the foresight to do the first encode with closed GOPs, you probably can't join in the re-encoded part seemlessly anyway (and even if you did, it still might not be possible).

I dont know what number reader i am. But your question is kinda confusing, and you dont actually give ALL information about the mpegs.

But the closed GOP theory is probably it.

It probably helps to post something relavent to your question in the subject, rather than "an interesting question" or something that gives absolutely no indication as to what our question actually is. Sure, 114 people read it. But more likely the *right* people would have read it if you'd given some indication in your subject line.

That said, the first reply was pretty much right. You'll need a closed GOP to do much of an insertion, and even then you likely will get a certain amount of "hiccup."

You could try using avisynth with DirectShowSource to "join" the three files and then reencode. 'course you'll end up with quality loss due to the reencode, but if you don't have the original this may be your only choice.

If you have the original, encode with closed GOP so you can do the editing you want.
