problem ripping vob subs

I'm trying to rip some subs, and its not working well.

vobsub sees the streams, but is not saving any images.

However, subrip does see the images and can do ocr on them (but with issues).

any idea whats going on? subrip can rip to bmp images or to "sup" images, anyway to convert those set of images into idx/sub vobsub format?

thanks.

solution was to rip it in linux w/ mencoder

cmd line I used was

mencoder -o /dev/null -nosound -ovc copy -vobsubout <name of idx/sub> -sid <subtitle stream you want to rip/mencoder will list if you dont know> -dvd-device <path to ripped dvd> dvd://1

spotter,

did you manage to save those vob bmp based subs into any other format other then idx/sup through subrip!??

I followed the DoOm guide and tried to extract vobsubs through subrip whitout using ocr for a change but it fails to make an working output format !!????
It sure reads the subs but wont save it as either a graphics format or txt format to work whit !

Maestro complains not beeing correct format ... time code not right or something blahblahblah

working whit subs SUCKS BALLS !!

And if i use Vobsub creator 2.23 the timings are horrible WRONG WRONG WRONG!!

Wots the deal whit that !!

That's weird... AFAIK, VobSub gets the timestamps right from the DVD, so I can't see how it could possibly go wrong. What are you doing, exactly?

SubtitleCreator can convert SUP files to IDX/SUB.

Hi hymntolife,

First of thanks to take time to look this into whit me

Well, first i used the easiest method and demuxed it through dvd decrypter..

They are also IDX/Sub files isnt it using the mentioned method. But no matter wot, when i try and load them through vobsub 2.23 to play whit the movie they are way behind or showing to late ... or the durations are messed up (verry small durations) !!!
Converting them using subrip results in horrible wrong timings aswell!!!

Oh and i tried the onsite doom method using vobsub 2.23 aswell!!

I dont know wots so troublesome to demux the subs just as they are showing on de dvd source !!!
But for some reason timmings keep messing up !!

lol, it seems to go EASIER to add subs from srt lmao! No problems converting those anymore once i synched them !!

But working whit subs strait from the dvd source oh my....!!

wELL.... i dont know how you do it poeple whitout resynch the whole thing!!! But it seems to start fine but halfway the movie its getting behind whit at least an half second +0.500 ms !!!
so using delay is out of the question since it starts fine !!?

you use rsync, and you mark the sections that it should resync. Really only works if its a constant gradually falling out of sync.

hi spotter,

I figured as much, but then how come everyboddy claims vobsub gets the right timings strait from dvd when its not!!

And "gradually falling out" is INDEED EXACTLY wots so darn hard about it to get them synched yes....

damn this is frustrating !!

It seems its allot easier to use ocr on them then ripping/demuxing them obviously !?

Why? Well, for one the only thing i need to do at most is just using an delay of -500 ms or +500ms on EACH and EVERY subtitle and everything turns out ok this way.

But working whit ripped/demuxed subs is an pain because the timmings do indeed gradually fall behind or showing toO early after awhile!!

So, ill try resynch (another time consuming learning curve to get stupid subs)!!

thanks anyway spotter,
