I'm thinking that a median pass first will get rid of dropouts and glitches, and then an average of the now dropout free captures would clean up the noise.

So far so good, got it demuxed and run through...
So far so good, got it demuxed and run through restream. Dumped the resultant video out to DV as a quick check and verified that the fields are indeed now around the right way.
Remuxed it no problem...

How to directly edit VOB headers?
I want to change the TOP_FIELD_FIRST value from 1 to 0 in a set of VOB files. Is there a way to do this directly i.e. edit the header rather than demux etc.?
