Is it possible to demux XSUB from divx container?

Hello,

I've just learned to make XSUB and mux them with avis using fuse.exe or srt2bmp.

Now I'm wondering if there is a way to get back the original subtitles. I mean, if I delete the bmp or srt subtitles I used to make the XSUB, is it possible to recover them one day from the Divx I've created?

i also use srt2bmp and fuse, i dont think we can extract them back.

i havent seen any software to demultiplex the new divx container.

srt's are only a few kb in size no harm in keeping them in a folder like i do

Well, until some true demuxing tool appears, I guess you could use SubRip to open the .divx file (I don't know if AviSynth supports it) and do OCR on the subtitles just as if the movie was hard-subbed.

For getting the subs I use bmptoxsub.exe, just to avoid the ocr process that's slow and makes normally some mistakes that I have to correct. So, I don't have srt subs because I create the xsub from the bmps.

Anyway I can keep the bmps or better the ifo demuxed with the subs or also a vobsub file.

I tried ripping the subs from the divx file with subrip, opening the file as a Hard Subbed Video, but it didn't work.

Could you please be more specific on what happened? Did it not open the file, or did the subs not show up?

The subs didn't show up.
I never used that specific subrip function and it may need to be configured some way I don't know in order to see the subs. The thing is I could watch perfectly the film going on the window but without subtitles.

i buy my dvds drom web shops as they are a lot cheaper, some of them dont have subtitles in my language so what i do is download them from the net(there are sites where u can download subs in a lot of languages) and then use srt2bmp2xsub to create xsub.

instead of using subrip u could download the subs and then later use srt2bmp to create your bmp's
