sub synching!!!!!

Can someone please explain this to me.

I have successfully joined two subtitle files "no problems"
BUT
when I play my movie this is the issue:

-> the first item in the srt file

00:02:10,287 --> 00:02:14,963
In the year 2046, a vast
rail network spans the globe

->the 46th item in the file
46
00:06:02,607 --> 00:06:04,245
Why are you telling me?

The problem is my move just immediatly starts at item 46, why do the first 45 get ignored.

Have you added your subs to a DVD or SVCD, or are you using them as separate text subtitles together with a mpeg4 videostream (XviD or DivX). If it's the latter, are you viewing the movie+subs on a standalone player or on your PC?

Could you describe the method and applications you're using to create/view the subs a bit further?

And finally, could you upload the entire text subtitle file for us to analyze?

I have an avi movie
I found the subtitlefiles in two parts for the movie
I used subtitle work shop to join the files as one subtitle file
Im asking how is it possible for the file to immediatley start playing at Item 46
if the file is based on strict time codes.
When it should be stating at item one @ 00:02:10,287 in time.
How is this possible

the time code of your avi file is wrong. You may find help here:

I meant U should ask for help there...
There are several ways to repair avi files (usually it is the audio part that needs attention) and VD(and similar) is the most used tool to deal with avi files.

Maybe someday in past you have entered delay on subtitles about 6 min (in VobSub or player) and now it works with this .srt?
