Changing default Subtitle for backup DVD

Alright, I've got this Japanese DVD (Casshern) and for my backup copy, I want to change the English Subtitles to be automatically ON by default. I want to do this because its kind of a hassle to change the subs every time I watch the Movie. Plus, all the text for the Subtitle options are in Japanese, so that adds to the annoyance factor.

What would be the best way to accomplish this? I was thinking about demuxing everything and recompiling the DVD, just changing that one option, but I really want the subs to be exactly the same (not just the same text/timings, but the exact same font, margins, all that stuff). Is there maybe an easier way than what I described above? If not, then can I do anything with the .SUB file DVDdecrypter spits out? DVDlab Pro wont recognize it, and neither will Scenarist.

Nope, demuxing/muxing or reauthoring is not needed for this. It can be done by changing the PGC commands of the DVD, which are located in the IFO files. So no heavy VOB modifications are needed.

These are two ways of doing it:

1. Use the subtitle ON command (SetSTN) as a pre command for the main movie forcing your desired subtitle stream to play, using this guide (http://home.tiscali.be/debie.roland/pgcedit/third_party/2cool/subtitles/subtitles_on_default_pgcedit.htm) by 2COOL.

2.
