I researched this forum and tried to find the guide but I am very lost and I am very amateur. It all discusses about movie subtitles and etc.
I need to put subtitles (not on/off with subtitle menu) embedded where people can just watch it.
The source is DVD with vob files.
I don't have subtitle file, .srt. whatever.. I have no idea what this is.
I have to type in the texts as DVD plays.
How should I do this? I don't know where to start.
My goal is simple. Put texts in DVD.
I need a detailed guide.
Please help, someone! I'm desperate!

You need Subtitle Workshop in which you can associate text (subtitles) with timestamps thus creating a subtitle file.
With such subtitle file you should be able to reauthor the dvd using any dvd authoring software with subtitles support - Scenarist, DVDLab Pro or dvdauthor, for instance.

visualsubsync or substation alpha (I think) might be better suited as they use an audio wav file to create the subtitles. Try and google those two; and good luck, it's a hard and long job to create subs :)

Yes, timing using wav is more accurate and fast than only using video source (pause/play/grab times manually).
Look for Sabbu, XombieSub and Chronosub( the new version about Medusa the old Subtitling)too, because they also use wav timing.
In this forum there are many information about such programs. Check and take you conclusions. :)

Thank you all for your quick help.
However, being a very amateur, I'm still very confused. I don't even know the first step.
I've installed all the recommended softwares but don't know how to use them.
I have a DVD with whole bunch of .vob files. How do I start?
Most subtitle softwares don't seem to support this file type. Can someone please tell me step by step guide? I looked at all the steps/all the guides on this website and videohelp.com but nothing really fits this situation.
1. I have a DVD (company promotion video)
2. I need to make subtitles embedded on the video on DVD. I have no subtitle file. I need to start from scratch, meaning type all the subtitles in.
3. I need to burn this back to complete DVD with subtitles.
If it's easier to make the subtitles with menu which enables the viewer to turn it on/off, that should be fine, too. But still I'll have to put subtitles text from scratch.
Please help!
