Problems with adding Subtitles

Hi, I have problems adding subtitles.I´ve done few films already in AVI format and they are all fine, but when I decided to add subtitles it didn´t work.
I used WinRar to compress them but then I couldn´t open them, so I had to uncompress them, then I managed to open the sub file in VobStep 1 Configure(Subtitle Tab in Gordian Knot) option, I pressed OK and nothing happened. According to the Guide I should get 3 files in .ifo .idx and .sub format, so I couldn´t do my movie.
Can anyone help me on this

This is a bit confused..
I gather you use GK to do subs. GK uses indeed vobsub..
So, open 1- configure, open the IFO file (it's there from the decrypting VTS_XX.ifo). You have to change the dropdown file extension yourself first in the open dialog(it's defaulted to .sub.idx).
Browse for an output folder. The languages you want, keep in the right box, the ones you want rid of, send back to the left box with the arrows.
click ok. It will go through the indexing and stuff, and you will have your idx/sub files ready :)
