I have a very strange problem. I`m creating a DVD using Adobe Premiere 1.5 and Encore DVD. Because I don`t like the subtitle editor in Encore I installed the freeware subtitleworkshop251. I can create a textfile containing the subtitles and import it with Encore DVD. Wonderful, everything fine. And I remember that I installed SubRip to get some subtitles from another DVD. Works fine.

Now the problem: If I have a movie file (avi, mpg...) in a directory which contains a subtitle file with the same name but the extension srt or txt, ALL my players are displaying subtitles !!! ( Microsoft Media Player 10, Nero Showtime and bsplayer ). The bsplayer is displaying 2 different subtitles, once I can influence with the bsplayer preferences and the other mysterious subtitles which are displayed now by every player.

What did I have installed ? I removed all my video tools, but the "subtitle feature" is permanent.

Tnx for any ideas ...

Thank you for answer. I never installed vobsub. Is it included in other packages ? Can I detect it ?

Oh, vobsub was a very good hint. I searched my drive for "vob" and detected that a program called vsfilter (directvobsub) is installed on my computer. It comes with the Matroska package. I could disable it.Thank you very much.

Go to directvobsub properties, and set it to never load :)
