First you must decide what version you are using :D
On menu Mode you must select CCE (at this point you are correct).
But on under Options Menu you have CCE Options sub-menu with the following options:

CCE Basic (choose it if you are using CCE Basic - any versions)
CCE SP (choose this if you're using 2.66 or 2.67 retail or Trial or 2.70 Retail)
CCE SP Trial (Choose this if you are using CCE 2.70 Trial)
CCE SP (2.50) (Choose this if you are using CCE 2.50)
Anyway, so what you are suggesting is I get the latest Decryptor and re-rip that disc, then try running it through DVDRB again?
yes :D

On the menu Mode I have selected CCE. Under the Options Menu/CCE Options, I have CCE Basic selected (that *is* what I have, and what I have been using - I just had to dig around a bit to remind myself).

I also downloaded DVDDecrypter 3.5.4.0 and installed it, ripped the problem BG 1978 disc again, and have already started DVDRB working on it again. Hopefully it will be done in about 5 hours. It always seemed to fail at the reencode phase (I think - I use the 1 Click method, so I'm never sure). Thanks for the tips.

The only time I had the error #4 was with a dodgy source disk. DVDD v3.5.4.0 identified protected sectors and took care of them, then DVD-RB choked during the rebuild.

Out of interest I used ifoedit on the original ripped disk and did a "Get vts sectors". It identified a few discrepancies which it corrected and saved.

I reran the output through DVD-RB and it worked flawlessly.

I posted about this on the DVDD forum and was told to ignore the ifoedit check, so I thought it was something I'd done wrong.

If you get a chance could you check your source and let me know if ifoedit reports the same for you?

Good luck.

I'm not sure if this was meant for me or not. If it was, I've never used IfoEdit, so I don't know exactly what you are talking about, sorry. If you want to explain more clearly, maybe in a PM, I'd be cool trying to help figure out if my problem was the same as yours.

Ok, I just had DVDRB crash again, in the same spot on the same DVD. I've tried this now about 7 times, with various settings. This time I got the "Runtime Error 6 Overflow" message. I really hope someone can help me figure out what is wrong here.

Here is the rebuilder.log file, I hope it has the info necessary to troubleshoot this problem:

Have you tried to use the "Special Error Processing" option?

If you didn't, select it under Options Menu and try to Rebuild... just don't forget to un-check it either you are succeed or not :D

@nathanaa - ive sent you a pm about ifoedit. If it helps please reply in here for the gurus to consider.

If it finds no errors in the source, I apologise in advance for the slight detour. :)

Best wishes,

No, I don't believe I have tried it with the "Special Error Processing" option selected, I guess I'll give that a try now. I'll report back tonight on how it went.

nathanaa
26th April 2005, 02:49
Well, I had another failure, same error 6 overflow one, even after trying it with the Special Error Processing option selected.

I'm now trying it a completely different way than I normally do, I am re-ripping the disc with Decrypter as an .iso file, then I'll try to process with DVDRB. I've never done it before, because I've never needed to - the file method always worked fine.

I really wish I knew what that error was all about, I mean, *why* do I keep getting the error - what is going wrong?

Any other suggestions greatly appreciated, please and thanks!

Does this error always occur at VTS_1, segment 1? How many frames are in that segment? If the error is happening in exactly the same spot every single time, get us more info on the segment. Perhaps that segment has been corrupted in some way.

nathanaa
26th April 2005, 04:56
It always happens at the same spot, from what I can tell. I'm not sure how to determine exactly where it is every single time it fails. I posted the info above from one of the last attempts, and to my untrained eyes it seems to be the same as what I just got on my most recent attempt.

As for how many frames are in that segment, I don't know how to determine that - can you give me directions on how to find that out?

If that segment was corrupted it would have to be in the original I should think. I have ripped that disc now about 10 times, and am still having the same problem. As I mentioned, I ripped it as an .iso this time (wow, that took a LOT less time than file mode usually takes) and am currently processing it, so we'll see if it works this time. I wish I know how to start the process again from where it failed the last time, so I didn't have to keep starting from scratch each time. Is there a way to do that?

@nathanaa
In particular I'm now a bit confused with your situation (all that issue with CCE version, etc.), so please forgive me if I ask for information you have already submitted:)

First, from your original post we are now on version 0.84 Free (you were using 0.82). did you updated?, if no, please do and repeat try again.
Second: If the problem persists, Post your current rebuilder.ini file (the one you use with the last RB version).Indicate what is the error message RB is giving
Please state what is the version of CCE you are using. If you are using CCE Basic, please state what version of CCE Basic you are using
Third: If the problem happens again in the Rebuild step, at the same spot ("- Rebuilding segment 1 VOBID: 1 CELLID: 2")please post the ECL project for that cell.
How to do it? Well, in your \D2VAVS directory there would be a file named "item.ecl". Please look at it: It contains the ECL project for the last cell encoded. Now look at the file rebuilder.ecl: it contains the ECL projects for all the cells: the structure of the item.ecl file gets repeated again and again, although the parameters do change (at the end of the rebuilder.ecl file it should be the ECL project of the last cell, in efect, the same content as in item.ecl). Now look in rebuilder.ini for the ECL project for the second cell and post it.

<God that's annoying, I'm writing a reply to a post and I keep getting logged off by the board. I had to log on twice to be able to post this message. Grrrr.....anyway...>

I just tried to process that Battlestar Galactica 1978 disc again, and no go (AGAIN). Before I tried this last time, just to see what would happen, I tried to use DVDShrink on that particular disc, and it worked fine. However, it is more than 50% compressed, so I'm not happy about what the result might look like. But, I did find out at least that *something* would work on it.

Ok, I was using 0.82, but I upgraded to 0.84, then repeated after the DVDShrink test run. As I mention above, DVDRB did not finish it again.

Second: If the problem persists, Post your current rebuilder.ini file (the one you use with the last RB version).Indicate what is the error message RB is giving

The exact error message is the same as the last half dozen times - I had gotten different ones the first few times I tried to rebuild this disc, but about 7-9 times now it has been the same one:

"Runtime error '6'. Overflow."

Here is my current rebuilder.ini file from this attempt with 0.84:

Seems like you'll have to wait for version 0.86... it has corrected that error. Read its changelog.

@ nathanaa

You can wait for the release of the free 0.86 as Rocaks suggested, to see if it resolves your problem

Or we can continue to see if it is an installation / setup problem.

Regarding your last post, it seems you got a little confused when answering my suggestions / instructions:

- I asked to post the content of rebuilder.ini file but you posted the log.. Here I made a mistake, as this file it is not in the \D2VAVS directory, but in the same folder where it is the RB executable (rebuilder.exe).
- You posted the content of the item.ecl file. I was just intructing you to look at it to understan my request about what part of the rebuilder.ecl file I want you to post: The rebuilder.ecl file contains the intructions for CCE to encode, one set of instructions instructions for each segment. When RB wants to encode a certain segment, it copies the instructions for that segment from rebuilder.ecl into item.ecl, and then loads item.ecl into CCE for it to encode. Taht is the reason why item.ecl contains the instructions for the last segment (V02003000003001). If you look at rebuilder.ecl you'll notice the last part is equal to item.ecl.
What I wanted you to post was the part of the rebuilder.ecl file which contains the instructions for the segment is giving problems. It should be the second segment in rebuilder.ecl and the name should be V010001000001002
- Finally, you posted the content of the rebuilder.inf file, no what I've asked, but useful anyway

Well, I'm thinking it is a problem with the source disc(s). I mean, I'm no expert, which is why I'm asking for help from you folks, it just seems like it is a couple discs in particular that are giving me fits. After I made the last BG disc attempt, I did Mork & Mindy, just to see if it would work. No problems, all four discs went through batch mode without a single hitch, same settings as what I've been using for the BG disc that won't process. BUT - in case it is not, I'd still like to know for sure, so here we go.

Or we can continue to see if it is an installation / setup problem.

Sounds good to me.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned, after I tried the BG disc again, I ran the Mork & Mindy through DVDRB, so I presume the file was overwritten. That computer is doing something else right now, otherwise I would check. If it would NOT have been overwritten, let me know and I'll post it.

What I wanted you to post was the part of the rebuilder.ecl file which contains the instructions for the segment is giving problems. It should be the second segment in rebuilder.ecl and the name should be V010001000001002

@nathanaa

The fact that you were able of doing Mork & Mindy seems to indicate your setup is OK. That was what I wanted to check in the rebuilder.ini, so now it is not needed.

And this time you post the requested section of the rebulder.ecl. I wanted to check the lenght of the segment not to be short. It is not, it is 19276 frames long.

So I'm now clueless:( . I agree with you probably it is a problem with BG, and I hope that, as Rockas indicated, the 0.86 Free version will be able to cope with it..

nathanaa

Well, thanks for the assistance anyways. I'll give 0.86free a try when it comes out, and hopefully that will do it for me. I got all the others backed up, but not this one to my satisfaction.

As I said, thanks all!
