How to make SRT subtitle language to display

Hi

Don't use subtitles much but noticed with Zoom Player 2.90 and SRT subs, that the subtitle displays as it name-of-file, rather than the subtitles' language.

i.e. if the AVI and SRT files are of the form ABC now.avi/ABC now.srt, then in ZP, Language, the subtitles will be listed as "ABC now"

Is there any way to make the SRT subtitle list as English (or whatever language the subtitle is in).

I notice idx/sub subtitles list as the desired language but they have a lot more structure than SRT subs.

If you don't mind muxing your AVI and SRT into one file, such as OGM, you can specify the language names when muxing.

Another possibility would be, to use MPC or VSFilter after renaming your files like this:
ABC now.avi
ABC now.English.srt
ABC now.French.srt

If you play ABC now.avi, the 2 SRTs will be automatically loaded, switchable, and they should be displayed as "English" and "French" in the menu. (Not sure this is the case with Zoom Player)

I renamed the SRT file as you suggested and, without doing anything else, played the AVI in ZP as usual, just to see what would happen. Voila! it worked as per your last paragraph.

Just wanted to ask that is there any way to convert srt files to sst file with bmp generating except using maestroSBT ?

with maestroSBT , I should convert the srt file to ssa then converty that ssa file to sst.

Any idea ?

no (i don't know anyway) but srt->ssa won't take more than a few seconds using subresync.
