Hey all

If you can supply me with a little of your Knowledge it will be of great help thanks.

I am encoding with nero recode h264 and after I convert it to container mkv from mp4 .

This is my problem.

I want to place a permant sub top right which fades out which says something like encoded by then name but you can't do it with nero recode when encodings is there a method to force this in recode with additional software or can I somehow place this on afterwards without reinencoding the lot and not using a separate sub file.

Any suggestions what compares with nero recode but in vdub as I have looked in this form and there are so many options its just getting confusing.

"permanent" and "without reencoding" is always incompatible. You cannot change the video data in that way without reencoding at least the part where the logo is to appear.
However, i think recode can include vobsub subtitles. This is not specified in mp4, but as private stream it is still compliant i guess.
You might also be able to mux mp4 timed text into the outpur mp4 from recode. If you don't care if the text can be turned off, you could look into that.
You would have to limit it to a pure texual logo for timed text (*.ttxt) or to 4 colors per bitmap (including the transparent color) for vobsub which you probably best create with some DVD authoring related tools. Either way you won't have a seperate file, the subs become a muxed stream in the same file as the video, much like audio.
I don't use recode, but with the forum search you might be able to find instructions or just dig around a bit in the recode threads in the New A/V Formats - Container (and - Codecs) forum.
