Well I have Rebuilder PRO v.93.2 setup with QuEnc high quality, scene detection and the edited BDVD matrix.
DC precision 10, iDCT(3) 64 bit floating point and Auto GOP. So we will see tomorrow how it turns out. Fingers crossed.

Hi-
I have one Gig of memory and that bugger was using most of it.
That sounds very strange to me. I've been running a very slow script all day (.21 RT) with CCE 2.70, although not through DVD-RB, and I'm using only 300,000K of memory, which is a bit more than it usually uses.

A suggestion and a question.
I know the title of the Matrix gives some indication for it's use.
Still, it would be helpful IMO if there was an approximate bitrate suggested for each Matrix. What may be considered "Very Low" by me may be considered just "Low" by someone else.
Well..well...the eternal question, in fact there is no perfect matrix...it's a matter of taste, some people prefer blurred pictures...others very sharp one...The used matrix may change that aspect...I could give you one of the general rule (for reg movies not animations) I'm using when not using QMatOp ;) : For bitrates higher than 3000 I like HVS Good picture, between 2000-3000 AVAMAT6, between 1000-2000 QLB and under 1000 Bach1.....but it's just a matter of taste...
Second, I like the BDVD matrix but it is not DVD compliant and the resulting DVD will not play on one of my standalone DVD players. What in your, (or anyone who cares to make a suggestion) opinion is a comparable Matrix?
As Rockas said, the only restrictions/rules on MPEG2 matrices are :
First intra coordinate must be 8
First inter coordinate must be 8, in general 16 or higher
Qcoeff can't go higher than 255, (127 with CCE)
To turn your BDVD matrix in a MPEG2 compliant I would translate it :
The amount added or removed to the first intra coeff should be added/removed to the rest of the intra matrix. Same with inter...
Otherwise give a try to QMatOp ;)

@Rockas
but I think that you could at least use it with QuEnc.
Well you were right Rockas. The edited BDVD matrix worked with QuEnc in all my standalone players. :D
The only small problem was it was a bit undersized at about 4100Mb. I can fix that in the Rebuilder .ini with a larger QuEncTargetSectors=xxxxxxx size.
Thanks for suggesting that I go ahead and try QuEnc.
Wonder why it won't work with HC!?!?
@manono
although not through DVD-RB, and I'm using only 300,000K of memory, which is a bit more than it usually uses.
I saw jdobbs, in another post somewhere, indicate that CCE used a large part of memory, no matter how much memory that was available , ex. maybe 70% of 512MB or 70% of 1GB. (Not exactly 70%, just a large part of what you have). And it did use a Large part of my memory, using it with DVD-RB.

QLB and Bach1 are in the Rockas Rebuilder Matrix Editor.
Where can I find HVS Good picture and AVAMAT6? Also, are they standalone compatible? Still, when I have the time I am going to check out QMatOp.
BTW I am starting to like to play with the different Matrices.
But it is like ice cream, there are so many flavors ....err...types of Matrices to try.:)
Thanks all,:)

I had another thought on the subject.
I wonder if Rockas would be interested in putting "HVS Good picture and AVAMAT6 Matrix" in the next version of the Rockas Rebuilder Matrix Editor". :D
As a matter of fact, maybe he would be interested in people posting their most favorite Matrix.:)
And a little information about the Matrix and why they like it.

I would also love to get my hand on these other Matrixs. I do have a file called AVAMAT6.cqm but I see rebuilder uses the mtx extension for the matrix, so I don't know if I can convert it or what. Thanks for any help.

What version of CCE do you need to use Matrix?

Well I looked around and found that Jawor's 1CD Quant. Matrix is a replacement for the HVS Good Picture matrix. It is already in the RRMEd.

Yeah, but I also have 1 GB of memory. Sorry, I guess I should have mentioned that. I'll pay attention the next time I do a DVD-RB backup to see if it increases much above 300,000K. Don't know why it would, though.

Well I don't have any problems on adding some more Matrices to the Editor... you can post them here as long as there's a full description about them and please... make sure that they worth it... or we'll be having hundreds of Matrices that no one will ever use :)
Maybe we should make a collection of the most used and make a pool with that theme... what do you think? And what would be the "best" number of available Matrices by default on the Editor?

Is this still in developement? I would love to see some more matrices added that are well known and people use. Or can someone point me and others in the direction where to get more matrices? Thanks for any help.

Well I found a Matrix zip Here (http://www.ligh.de/software/qmatrix.zip)
It is full of Matrices.
Also, an interesting thread Here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=73666&page=1&pp=40)

Well I found this Matrix zip somewhere in the Xvid forum a while back
and for the life of me I can't find the thread that contained it again.
So, I have attached it for all to enjoy. It is full of Matrices that you can convert using this tool Here. (http://www.ligh.de/software/CQME_1.0b.zip)
Once converted to a text file you can import into the Rockas Rebuilder Matrix Editor and they will then be available for use in DVD Rebuilder.

@Rockas
I don't suppose you could put it on your agenda to have the Rockas Rebuilder Matrix Editor be able to directly import a .CQM file instead of having to convert to a text file beforehand do you? :D
It's not a big issue for me, just asking.:)
Regards as Always,
P.S. Maybe add .XCM file direct import also:)
edit: added PS

I wouldn't call it a bug, still, when you go to the Quantization matrices in DVD-RB
then move over to the Main feature Matrix then slide down to "low bit matrix" then "very low bit matrix" there is a flash as if something is trying to open. It occurs in the matrix viewing window list. (I have about 40 Matrices in it)
Never saw that before, doesn't seem to affect anything just kind of wierd.
I rebuilt several short movies with, mainly the Matrices I recently imported with Matrix Editor version 0.1.8 still no problem.
Lastly, People should know that the Intra value should start at 8 and the Inter value should be 16 or higher. Of the two Inter has more impact on you video, so it seems. This advice is for using your mpeg2 in a standalone player.
Sharktooth is the Xvid forum gives some good advice about using a Matrix and standalone compatibility.
Comments?

One thing I didn't understand... the "anomaly" you're reporting... is it on Rebuilder or on the Editor?

It's in DVD-RB Pro v.0.93.2
In the window that lists all the Matrices from which to choose.

@Rockas
Thanks for your work, the import function works very well! :)
But I do have some cosmetic problems under Windows 2k SP4, some of the buttons are without inscription.

Sorry, can't see "Update Languages". :D
By the way, I've changed my post before.
Edit: Okay, thanks for the advice. :) I've clicked on the white button above "OK" in the "Languages" dialog chose german and everything's fine now. :cool:

Absolutely! The only thing I've done was to replace the old MatrixEditor.exe in D:\Programme\DVDRebuilder\MatrixEditor folder with the new version 0.1.8.
But don't care about it, everything is working fine now. :)

Well I found a Matrix Thread Here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75828) that some may find interesting.
My opinion is that Jawor's could be quite good for TV captures (more noise in the source) whereas the notch matrix would suit DVD sources (usually clean sources) better.
Well I am continuing to use Bach as it does less damage to the encode than Notch, IMO. Also using Bach results in a smaller file size and better Q within a given filesize. As always, I caveat the comments with the fact that my viewing method is an older 32 inch JVC.
The problem with this kind of info. on matrices is that it is scattered all over doom9. I wish we had a more central location/sticky for this kind of info. but since we don't I guess we'll just have to link them together for everyone to see.

P.S. I saw that Rockas is working on an new release of the Rebuilder's Matrix Editor.
BTW Rockas, I saw the discussion you had with apfRAaTs ;)
