Images as subtitles

I see that some dvds have images (like pictures infact they are drawing from comics) instead of letters as subtitle streams.
Do anyone know how to rip this kind of subtitles?

I know the rules of the forum and before posting I try to search on the others posts but, maybe I'm a little dumb, I was not able to find an answer.
Maybe I'm not explained: I have a DVD where besides the normal subtitles stream, there is a stream which is a mix of words and images, which is, obviously, not handed from subrip. I try to look further in the forums, but, please, if someone can post me a link to the correct answer, I will be very pleased. Thank you

i guess you will have to simply reuse the vobsub stream and place them in a container like mkv or mp4

which audio/video formats do you want to combine it with?

Actually I use the Ogm container, with XVID video codec, mp3 audio streams and srt subtitle streams. To mux them together I use VirtuaDubMod.

To mux them together I use VirtuaDubMod. try muxing your streams to matroska with the mkvmerge tool and dont feed mkvmerge the srt subs, it can handle the vobsubs (picture subs) directly (*.idx file), no need to convert to srt

that way you will also have the pictures you want to keep

If you just want to dump images, you can also use subrip and use one of the bmp modes or use the dvdsuptools to dump bitmaps out of a .sup file (obtained by e.g. demuxing your vobs using vobedit).

out of curiosity: could you post some of these image-subtitles eiter as PNGs or the .sup file itself? Would be very nice! for posting images, you can use http://www.imageshack.us.

Thanks for the answers, I'll try to post the idx files even if I have to ask back the dvd (I have only the decripted images for now since I use subrip to obtain the srt files directly from the vobs....)Mmmhhh... maybe there is also the idx files I never looked deeply inside the VIDEO_TS folder...

Ok I'm back and I made a .sup files of the subtitle stream I spoke of.

you have to download it and change the extension from gif to sup.

Are U sure this is subs of any kind?

Subrip told me that this and other analogous streams was of subtitle kind. It is the first time I see something like that, that is the reason why I write the post....
