Hello!
I'm tring to encode mjpeg avi file created with my canon a70 digicam.
and VDUBMOD gets stuck in the begining encoding process (after analizing), it also creates mp3 file with 0 size.
thanks!

I didn't see you waiting enough for it though...
As usual its worth checking what your're using for decoding of mjpeg (and try different decoder). As for mp3 check manual conversion with lame to see if there is any problems.

Looks like encoding crashed during first pass, so bitrate for the second pass was raised and that caused oversize.

I reran the file through AutoGk. This time I force interlace on hybrid. Also I noticed that before the "correct color if needed" was checked. I cleared that checkbox. The completed file is now the correct size 700mb.

Same here. I have a Pioneer dv-575 which has the MediaTek 1389EE chip. I'm 100% sure this chip doesn't allow xvid + packed bitstream. So i have been using MPEG4Modifier to remove packet bitstream in xvids, in order to get the files play correct.
Now, encoding with AutoGK, MPEG4Modifier reports all files containing "packed bistream", but they play OK.
This is really odd.

My 1389EE based player (Yamakawa 335) doesn't have any problems with packed bitstream in xvid as long as only 1 consecutive b-frame is used. If I use more than 1 the picture starts to stutter. AGK only uses 1, so maybe that's the explanation why PB suddenly works for you...?
len0x
21st April 2005, 21:41
Explanation is simple:
- divx only produces packed bitstream therefore divx certified devices are obliged to support it
- XviD 1.1 beta 2 is the _first_ version of XviD with proper support for DXN profiles
- DXN profiles are desighed for hardware devices
do the math...

I see that fps for FILM hybrid sources is calculated incorrectly for AVI input sources (it should be 24 while it is shown as 30). Its a bug.

I captured the tv show with virtualdub (don't remember if any settings would have effected fps). I then edited out commercials and then saved it as an avi (huffy codec) with the virtualdub settings of direct stream copy for video and audio.
Nothing wrong with your file. Its just a bug.

is there something I could do as a work around?
not unless you force deinterlacing for hybrid sources in which case you'd be wasting 20% of bitrate plus probably get shuttering video.

Can ppl that had problems with length autodetection check new mediainfo (only GUI so far) from here (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mediainfo) and see if they still have them or not (as developer updated that code). Thanks.

May be your capture has dropped frames that result in asynch. I dunno how to correct that.

maybe autogk will have the ability to check all the frames of an avi files to find droped frames and inform the user about it (in order to re-encode his video with a program that sychronize the video with the audio)
Cocophone

I have maybe 2 or 3 dropped frames during capture.
When I play the original avi file the audio is in sync.
Also, if I first convert the file to a mpeg format and then run it through AutoGk then the audio stays in sync.

Its impossible as frames are dropped during capture...

this would lead to 80-120ms delay (PAL), not half a second in your case...

video is repaired then... Good thing to check is length of audio and video and see if they are the same.

I checked the length of the capture avi I'm trying to run through AutoGK. The audio and video show the same length 1:24:35.25 when I open it in Virtualdubmod. The codec used is Huffy.
The capture avi has been edited for commercials in virtualdub. I then saved the avi using direct stream copy for both audio and video.
When I watch the avi using Zoom Player the audio stays in sync even when I skip forward to the end. After I have run the file through AutoGk (using divx) then watch it using Zoom Player and skip towards the end of the file the audio is out of sync towards the end of the file. The divx file starts with the audio in sync.
I don't understand why the capture avi stays in sync, but the AutoGk divx file gets out of sync towards the end of the file.
When I do the same process for shorter files (about 40 minutes in length) the audio stays in sync for AutoGk divx.

where do you test the files and you find that there are out of sync? on your pc or in a standalone dvd player?
Cocophone
22nd May 2005, 22:19
on my pc using zoom player.
I haven't watched the file in real time.
But if I skip foward with the divx file the audio is out of sync (audio is behind the video).
If I do the same with the original file (huffy codec) the audio stays in sync when I skip forward in zoom player.

I recompressed the file in virtualdub and then thru autogk and the audio seems in sync.
It's weird, that when I edited the file in virtualdub and saved it using direct stream copy for audio and video the audio was in sync in the avi file, but after running thru autogk the divx went out of sync toward the end of the file.

@lenox
Is it possible to implement an only_audio_transcoding_option.
I don't want to touch the video and only want to transcode ac3 to mp3 in quite a few avi clips.
Would that be possible?
len0x
31st May 2005, 21:47
it is kinda out of the scope of AutoGK atm as it always processes video...

Yep, I see your point.
Feel free to extend the scope, when all improvements are done. ;)

The problem was that AVI file was DV type 1, so once you switched to type 2 the problem's gone away, right?

Hi len0x !
Request: Can you put in Hidden Options: "Keep Interlaced"?
Reason: input source miniDV. Output for standalone players.
enjoy,
Mtz
