Subtitle Stations and Effects

Ok i've used few subtitling stations but one of the best i found were Medusa and Sub Station Alpha. Now I've tried using Medusa for some effect like fading in and out but it didn't work very well. Im using VirtualDub and the subtitler filter to put the subtitles into the avi file, but for some reason the effects don't work when the encoding is finished. Any ideas or suggestions what can i do to fix this?

P.S Can someone point me to a good website with lots of fancy fonts, i need them for my anime footage :).

Maybe you could post some lines of your subtitle script?
