Getting 1 line subtitles into the top line?

Hi there,
I'm using DirectVobSub 2.13 to display subtitles. There's one thing I'd like to change and I don't know how:

Most *.srt files feature 2 lines of subtitles (one above the other). But of course sometimes only one line is used, because there isn't enough text. If that's the case VobSub puts that line in the lower position on the screen (usually there's the second line). I'd like to have it in the first line though.

Is there an option to make it that way, which I didn't find? If not, do you know a program which has this option?

If i understand you correctly, you don't talk about putting the text on the very top of the screen, but simply putting the one-line subtitles where the upper of two lines would go?
AFAIK there is no such things like two lines like two slots to put things in, but the subtitles get simply positioned relative to the lower edge. If there are two lines the upper one obviously is moved towads the center to make room for the lower one. But SRT can also disply 3 or more lines.

In the SRT itself there is little you can do. well you could put a second line with something really mall like a dot in every sub that only contains one line, but i guess that looks too ugly.

I might be wrong, but i think vsfilter/dvobsub allow you to you set te alignment and position. Maybe it helps to achieve what you want by setting the alignment to TopCenter (instead of standard bottom center) and then move the subtitles down by setting a really large offset from the top border.

Nice idea. And it actually works! Unfortunately I can't set the "override placement" tab above 120 and that puts the subs in the middle of the screen.

I can however move the subtitles to the desired position using the menu that appears when clicking the "launch config dialog" button. But I have to make these settings every time I start a movie, because VobSub doesn't save the changes in the "subtitle style editor". That's still better than before, so thank you very much!

You can try to use Media Player Classic (MPC) to display subs from the external .srt at the position you like.
