DVDmaestro subtitle colors

Hi,

I'm new to all this.
I followed some guide in ripping subtitles with subrip and importing them in dvdmaestro (eg doom guide) but the end colors are not what i expected.

Please could someone post a quick tutorial, how to properly extract and import them with the following result:
no background
white text
black outline.

Is there a difference in extracting straight from disc or hdd?
