SubRip or VobSub can't load subtitles ripped with DVD Decrypter

Hi,

The subject is descriptive enough. I've ripped a DVD movie by selecting the streams I needed: video, audio in English and subtitles in English. The files created are .IFO, .AC3 (for the audio), .M2V (for the video), and .SUB (for the subtitles).

Now the problem is that SubRip won't load the subtitles, although it seems to recognize .SUB as a valid file extension. VobSub doesn't seem to work either. Therefore I cannot either process the subtitles using OCR nor show them as pictures along with the movie.

Is there anything that can be done about this?

Rip the movie again in file mod and get the required vob with vobsub:D

Yeah, I know that much. But isn't there anything to do with the subtitles ripped by DVD Decrypter? Why does the option of ripping subtitles exist at all then, if no program accepts them?

This Q should be adressed to the dvddecrypter forum.
I never used dvddecrypter to get subs.

Hi.
These sub files created by DVDDecrypter are in a so called raw format.
Once I fell upon this issue was when smartripper which is no more popular offered the same opration through stream selection.

IIRC, the unsolvable problem was to keep the correct timecodes within these subtitle files.
Mind that VobSub creates a separate index file for this task.

Just leave the sub streams in the vobs.
Later Subrip can work on the VOBs perfectly.
Or use VobSub in an additional step.

But nevertheless it's a good question to ask LightningUK, the author of the DVDD why it is still an option.
Don't forget to do an intensive search, if he has been asked before... maybe...
