Subtitles starting at 255

Someone knows what kind of "protection" is this? Take a look in these subtitles (I, Robot). They are in brazilian portuguese, look at the starting time and at the finish time.
What to do?

I simply haven't seen anything like it ... but I am quite a noob when it comes to subs.

OK. I'll try to elucidate from where the problem comes.

I have "I, Robot" for region 4. The DVD it's ok... I've ripped with DVD Decrypter 3.5.1.0 and i've extracted the subtitles with VobSub Filter.

All streams have this problem. All of them starts in 255 hours and finish at 10 seconds.

The same problem have appeard in "Master and Commander" movie. I'm trying to use the original subtitles, because in the other movie I've used one from Internet.

Did you try to rip using subrip? It might be just a peculiarity of vobsub in conjunction with certain dvds ...

I used that program. I use VobSub for extract the legend and SubRip for the OCR conversion. I already tried to do the OCR conversion straightly of the VOB files, but the only thing obtained was a slower conversion. The problem remains. :angry:

The dvd You are trying to rip isn't original, I believe.
I've seen this from dvds dl through usernet, peeps coming to me with this prob.
Ain't that right?

Thanks for trying but the DVD it's original, specifically the version for rent.

Open the subtitle in Subtitle Workshop. Than press ctrl+b and enter the values for the first subtitle and the last subtitle of the movie.
You can find the values loading the movie in an DVD player like PowerDVD and play/pause at the first and last subtitle and write in the "ctrl+b window" the times shown in the player.

No... it didn't work because all subs startin' at 255 it gets as wrong/corrupted. All subs from 1 to 642 are in these times (255h) and the subs from 643 to 1152 are in other time/corruption. So I've seem two groups:

0001: 255:53:56,015 --> 255:54:00,679
to
0642: 255:00:38,026 --> 255:00:40,051
AND
0643: 00:59:08,003 --> 00:59:10,665
to
1152: 00:10:23,048 --> 00:10:27,280

The both one's are in decreasing time , not only in time order but also in the showing time.

Navigation is screwed up. This usually occurs when encoding, remuxing and so on, is homemade.
Stand alone players(mostly) will play them correct.
The only way to correct this is using tools to modify the errors made under the encoding.
You may try this:
Demux and remux the movie only and use only the sup you need to remux.
Tha's what I do.
