divx subtitles in a jvc player?

I am trying to get my subtitles for my divx movie(on a cd not dvd)to display on my divx certified jvc player. I dont know what format it needs to be to get recognized by the player but they are currently in srt format (and dont work). Sorry if this has been asked before i couldnt find an answer and i have been looking on and off for over a month now for an answer. any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

is your player supposed to support text-based subs? There's more than one divx-player from JVC, mentioning the model might have helped, btw :) ...

According to Videohelp.com (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?allvideo=1), no JVC player supports selectable divx subs ...
