Importing BMP subs from subrip into DVD Lab pro

Hi,

I couldn't get bmp subs from subrip imported with the colours correct into DVDLab Pro.

I came across a post on mmbforums; an edited version of which appears below (it seems to work fine). Credit to the original authors Cy-DVD-Cyber & mitja.

1. Start SubRip and choose 'Save SubPictures as BMP'.
2. Click on 'Start'.
3. Enter a folder to save the bmps.
4. Wait for the first Subtitle and choose 'Sonic DVD Creator'.
5. Click on 'Custom Colors and Contrast'.
6. Color#1 is the backround. Choose Black.
7. Color#2 is the outline. Choose red . (Will be black later).
8. Color#3 is the main color. Choose here white. (Will be white or yellow later).
9. Color#4 is the semitransparent black (used for antialiasing). This you can keep. It looks grey on the screen.
10. Click on 'OK' and wait for it to extract all the subs.
11. Choose 'Output Format' and 'Set Output Format'.
12. Choose 'Sonic Scenarist (*.sst)' and click on 'Convert to this Format'.
13. Now click on the Disk-Icon to save your .sst file.
14. Import .sst file into DVDLab Pro.
15. In DVDLab Pro;
set global font to white and outline to 'thick outline'.
16. Set bottom margin to 25 or whatever you prefer (check in preview window - zoom off).
17. Check the frame-rate is ok, click 'generate subtitle stream'

And if you're going to use MaestroSBT, set the custom colors from top to bottom like this:

1. Black
2. Blue
3. Red
4. White

In DVDLABPRO the colors are equal to:
Blue=Alias
Black=White
Red=Black
White=Transparent

Unfortunately I'm having trouble remapping the Alias color because DVDLAB shares Transparent and Alias the same slot for black, giving you only three colors to work with. DVDLAB doesn't let you remap the colors unfortunately.

I want to have a gray alias, not a semi-transparent black. If I change the color of the alias to gray, it makes the border gray too.

The semi-transparent black only works as an alias when the sub is over a bright background. I want it to work all the time.

Though I thought I got it to work somehow by changing one of them to yellow? If you know how to do it, let me know.

It let you add an extra border to your BMPs, but again, this is shared with black.
