OCRing stubborn VobSubs

I've got some subs I ripped with VobSub I'm trying to OCR and I'm not having any luck with either SubRip or VobSub. I've tried changing values around but I just can seem to get it to recognize correctly.

Can anyone recommend another program that can OCR these subs more effectively? I seem to constantly have trouble with SubRip with recognizing my subtitles in certain movies.

NOTE: I did finally manage to get them to recognize with SubRip but changing multiple settings and then still having considerable error.

Does anyone know if there is a program (because I don't think SubRip can do this) that can OCR bitmap-based subs from the VobSub files without having to rip from the VOBs? In other words, I'd like to load extracted subtitles from VobSub and have them OCRed. Is the only way to do this using VobSub's recognition feature, because it doesn't work to well, at least with the subtitles I'm using.

I just know the 2 you already mentioned.

Not sure if I understand you correctly on the 2nd part of your posting, but subrip can open vobsub .idx files ... the default file mask for "open ifo" even has .idx included.

Ah yes, I can't believe I didn't see the .idx file mask in SubRip. That answers my question, although I wonder if other people have difficulty in getting SubRip to differentiate between commas and periods? I'm also finding that SubRip places quite a few spaces between letters "i" and "n." I've posted the text subs I recognized in SubRip but can't post the bitmap subs because of their size.
