Hi Derrow nice to see ifoedit is still been worked on. Its my dvd tool of choice and I even donated to the ifosite.

This was posted in the bug section of the forum and I was wondering if its been worked on as it might be what affects certain dvd's on my sony standalones. Simpsons Season 4 disc 3 (tmpgenc'ed) . Done in exactly the same way as the other 3 discs which are fine. Anyway the possible bug..

When I use IFOedit to clean up a set of VOB's (either with "Create IFOs" button or with "Create new IFOs" menu item) and ask it to "Correct Vob-Unit pointers in VOB files", it appears to be updating the SYNCI information in DSI section incorrectly.

In particular, I believe that the audio offsets are wrong. It should point to the first audio packet that should play *during* the beginning of the current VOBU. Currently, IFOEdit adjusts to the first audio packet the begins *after* the beginning of the VOBU.

Looking at sources material of well-authored DVD's, I believe IFOEdit is getting this wrong. I don't know what the implications are on playback, as I assume most players (hardware or PC) don't rely on SYNCI information.

It effects the 3rd and 4th episodes on the disc. When it trys to play the start of the episode it starts to play for a split second. seems to freeze then advances to the next chapter and does the same through all the chapters until it gets to an unaffected episode. The dvd works fine in many other players, its just sony's it seems to dislike and I was wondering maybe if it was due to this synci info.

Not sure if you are going to update VobEdit, but...
A) 2COOL's request about a filter to show only one kind of packs will be very useful, (mainly filtering by Nav or subpictures).
B) A very small bug: Extracting (L)PCM tracks, in the resulting wav file, the ByteRate (bytes 28-31) should be SampleRate * NumChannels * BitsPerSample/8, but it is filled with 6000, which is Samplerate/8.
C) Going backwards in the VOB (clicking in the pack), many times VobEdit shows wrong values, you have to click twice in the pack (left side of the screen) to be sure.

a new IfoEdit beta 5 is available for download in the beta-download area at www.ifoedit.com.

These are the changes:

- fixed: NTSC authoring problems.
- added an automatic screen-refresh after editing values.
- fixed a bug with VTSM_VOBS Video Attributes

Personally, I would like for you to leave it an optional setting. It was helpful for me when I noticed I was using Elecard codecs which was bad for IfoEdit.

Beta 5 has a nasty bug!

When I use the Preview button on a Menu in Overview, with programs, it crashes.

In Menu bar, selecting VOB Extras > Remux .m2v brings up the strip streams options. The remux option should be checked.

Same for Movie Only > Remux .m2v and Movie Only > Remux and Strip streams

[EDIT]Did you get your Angles and Seamless Branching checkboxes to be enabled upon detection yet? I haven't confirm it yet at this moment.

[EDIT] None of the Menu Bar's Movie Only options have the Movie ONly checkboxes check. It should be right?

[EDIT] In fact, check all your VOB Extras > options. They are not popping up with menus with desired selections checked. :(

It means:
position failure on an unknown file.

It has to do with the correction of the nav-packs.
I changed the method to read and write back to the vob files, so it should be faster then the old IfoEdit, when correcting the Nav-pack-pointers.

Another feature Derrow hasn't disclosed. If you clicked on a cell or menu in Overview, the playback actually "plays" now. It doesn't start with a still. Great improvement Derrow! :D This is definitely a plus for me!

Ah yes,
I exchanged the Preview function, so you will get now the real Vob Id for preview.
The old function always displayed a few frames of the next VobId.
The new function doesn't anymore.

So as side effect the "frame nb: #" doesn't work anymore :rolleyes:

In the news section on ifoedit.com dated 11.04.02:
"Beta/Prerelease area opened (For registered members only)"

So I am assuming that Derrow is keeping the newest beta closed to the public for testing like previous versions. I'm not a registered tester so I'm not sure of current beta policy.

Well, I am a registered user, but I think there is a problem with the IfoEdit version number. The last version, available to everybody, is v 0.96 (ifoedit096.zip) while the last beta is... v0.96 beta 5. :confused: A little bit confusing. Should be 0.97 beta 5, no?

Also, the last beta is v0.96 beta 5, but the available version in the beta area is still 0.97 beta 4 (ifoedit096b4.zip)! :confused::confused:

However, I have downloaded the beta 5 some days ago, but I can't find it anymore now!!! :confused::confused::confused:

Also, there is a similar problem with VobEdit 0.6. I have an old 0.6 version on my computer showing "VobEdit v0.6" in the title bar, while the version 0.6 I just downloaded shows only "VobEdit" in the title bar, but has an about menu item in the system menu, showing "VobEdit version 0.6"! :confused::confused::confused::confused:
So, what are the differences between those versions, obviously not identical? And what is the last release?

Derrow, you should definitively fix this verry strange numbering sheme, and update the links in the beta section!
