I'm trying to rip some subtitles with SubRip, but they come out with too many spaces in between each letter.

example:
00:02:21,221 --> 00:02:23,357
Yo u d o rk, y o u h a v e n 't s e e n
th e fo re i g n g i rl y e t?

They come out like that. I have to manually re-do them with Subtitle Workshop, but it takes too much time. Any suggestions are welcome. I'm trying to get an SRT final output.

You can reduce the spaces detection by changing the settings in SubRip.

Yeah, I've tried that but it still looks the same. Is there another SRT ripper besides SubRip?

vobsub's subresync will convert .idx/.sub to .srt ...

Thanks for your offer. But as i just found out, the cause of all of the bad subtitles comes from the DVD source. I'm just gonna give up on the subtitles that come from the source.

In this case you could try and find good subtitles in the various subtitle sites, like extratitles.to for example :) I've found that it often is faster than editing your own subs, provided you don't own a dirt-rare copy of something.
