View Full Version : vobsub creates subs with reversed times

i'm trying to rip subtitles from a dvd to a sub/idx file with vobsub 2.23. this works without problems but if i try to convert them with subrip i get weird timecodes and subrip tells me that the subtitles overlap. if i take a look at the timecodes, it seems that vobsub inverted the times:

after vobsub:
1
255:29:44,038 --> 255:29:45,232
Master...

2
255:29:41,044 --> 255:29:42,739
Your Mandarin is lousy.

3
255:29:38,078 --> 255:29:39,443
It causes my ears discomfort.

if i use the original vob-files on the dvd instead of the ones vobsub created i get

1
00:47:11,909 --> 00:47:13,103
Master...

2
00:47:14,845 --> 00:47:16,540
Your Mandarin is lousy.

3
00:47:17,515 --> 00:47:18,880
It causes my ears discomfort.

anybody knows what happened here?

What version of SubRip did you use ?

BTW, you can try OCR directly with SubResync tool. It's included in VobSub package.

i use vobsub mainly because i'm lazy so i can save the vobsubs and ocr them at a later time. therefore it would be nice if i could demux them with vobsub without changing too much :)

Well...I'm little bit confused. Why demux the files ?

SubResync can be an alternative for SubRip to operate OCR process if you have idx/sub files as input. :)
