Antialiased Fonts with DVDauthorGUI

I've been using DVDauthorGUI to make DVDs with subtitles, but they only have two colors. I want to use the MaestroSBT way:

1°) srt --> ssa with Subrip or SubtitleWorkshop.
2°) ssa --> son with MaestroSBT.
3°) son --> vobsub (idx/sub) with son2vobsub.
4°) SUBtoSUP

They look much better with font smoothing antialias.

DVDauthorGUI supports other file types: sub, srt, ssa, smi, rt, txt, aqt, jss, js;
but when I try to import (vob)sub with bmps it doesn't work?

Can I import .sub with bmps or is this only with text subs. What .sub file type is this referring to?

dvdauthor supports bmps subs, just have a look at the documentation

The only thing I can tell from the documentation is that I can make a SPU tag and specify the start and end time. I don't want to do that with over 900 subs. Unless you're talking about some other documentation that I missed?

just before you go miles to somehoe import bitmaps. The DVD format uses mpeg-2 SPU subtitles. These cannot have more than 4 colors per picture (where one is transparent). So you are basicly left with 3 colors at your disposal. Thats definition of the DVD subtitle format, there is no tool that can do more than that. So what you can improve over 2 colors with a clever tool you can use the third color to interpolate between the other two colors, or the outline and the transparent BG. Or use no outline and have 2 colors for interolation from text to BG.

(However you can have a total of 16 RGB colors, but each picture can only pick four of them. For technical details, the picture uses 2 bits as index to colors in the palette)

As all the other formats in this list are text based, i guess the *.sub they mean is also text based. Probably micro-DVD format.
(i dont know what aqt is but it could be quicktime with a weird extension)

ONLY TEXT BASED SUBS ARE SUPPORTED:rolleyes: (it says so if U use the gui, there is a button to precise that on the right when trying to acquire subs)
