Three or more subtitles in one standalone supported format file ?

Hello everyone,

Here s the thing: i d like to know if it is possible in any way to have three or more kind of subtitles in one and only file ?

More precisly, i have this .avi file with three audio streams: english, french, and director's comments. I could use .idx/.sub format, but it is not supported by my dvd player (Philips dvp 630). So, is there a way to make it ? one subtitle for english udio stream, french audio stream, and a third one for director's comments, so that you can, during playing the file, switch between the different subtitles (like on a normal dvd in fact).

Does it have to be a separate file? Couldnt you just mux everything into a .mkv file?

check you hardware specs to see if it can read separate subtitles, and what format (usually srt if any). Then if yes, use subrip to extract all the languages separately and burn them alongside the film. If your player doesnt read subtitles, you're stuck I'm afraid :)

Mkv isn t supported by my stand alone ;)

But how ? i mean, the final result will be one avi file and several srt files ?
Isn't it possible to have the possibility to navigate from english st to french st [b]during[/g] play ?

Can I convert my files to dvd format ? (so that .idx/.sub is supported)
