Rendering issues w/SSA-ASS in VSfilter?

I've never heard of this issue, but for my current encoding series I was advised to use textsub.vdf instead of VSfilter because apparently it doesn't correctly render SSA/ASS files. They say the colors are off or parts of the text are alpha'd out (invisible) because SSA/ASS are RGB and VSfilter is Avisynth so its YV12 (native colorspace of the raw video).

Has anyone else heard of this issue before? Has it been addressed in the latest VSfilter release maybe?

I had just installed the Unicode version of VSfilter 2.33 and didn't see any problems in the coloring or rendering of the text or karaoke, even when it was in Kanji.

Were they just doing something wrong, or what I wonder?

Yes i have trouble with it, many efects aren't good suported in the VSfilter but texsub handle it correctly, they have a bad suport of aplha chanel and other isues.

True, I always use Textsub.vdf for the same reason. Even tho AVS+VSFliter should be slightly faster, special effects like \move dont work when encoding with VSFilter.dll.

I feel Textsub is always safer, but in most "non-crazy" cases, VSFilter.dll should be OK.

It's just annoying to me because I take that 30% hit in encoding speed to do it, plus the fact you are converting it out of the native colorspace to something else.

And Yuuhi do you know if Gabest ever addressed the problem then? Considering that thread is from December 2003?

I think not because VSFilter developing seems stopped....
