oh no if backuped 2 DVD without any kind of Error but now I see that the Subtitles look a little bit strange
Whatever I choose for the Subtile Option in Scenaid, i always get the same strange subtitles.
Oh I just see that I'm not the only one with this kind of problem :D

After installing ScenAid .27, when I rip a movie with DoItFast4U the subtitles *DO NOT RIP*. =\

Sub issues have been mostly resolved in the current build I'm working on (just finishing up a few thing)....
Bare w/ the issues a little longer and we'll have a fix out to everyone

Can someone please outline some sort of semi-automated way of extracting the subs for this movie so I can just import them into Scenartist. I really don't want to re-encode all the assests (by redoing the whole process all over again) just for subs. I've been trying to figure out SubRip, but I'm obviously missing something (and there is no help file!). Any help would be appreciated! ;)

D3s7,
I don't know if this has been noted before but when I use automatic execution via DIF4U with versions after .25 scenaid either gets passed on incorrect directory information or maybe it does it on its own. In any case it always gets a ] after a directory name so after all the the demuxing and ecoding is done and scenaid is executed it just sits there with an invalid directory like x:\donnie_darko]

@pcm1ke
Vsrip is your best solution. Subrip has a habit of being off by 7 frames. Open vsrip (in DIF4U folder - if you have the scenaid build use that instead) and select the ifo file of the VTS# you are ripping. Then choose the PGC required. Select the languages you want and whether you want just the forced subs or everything. Then let it run. This will need to be repeated for every PGC that is required. If there is a ifo & *.VOB file in the working dir select this instead as vsrip will run xxx faster. Once finished create a bat file as follows:
vsconv.exe -i "......(location of idx file)..." -o "....(output location - no extension)...." -f "scenarist" -id 0 where 0 is the stream you require. Check the idx file for this. eg.
# English
id: en, index: 0
in this case stream 0 is required. keep adding entries into the bat file for each stream required. Don't forget to name the output file accordingly. Run the bat.
Now import each sst into scenarist.
Done

Very good, I ended up using Subrip ~10mins after I posted. It appeared to be fine for the frames I did check (ie. the audio synced with the subtitles.. though I can't verify that for the Chinese subs). If there was an issue (ie. the 7 frame issue you mentioned) this would of been exhibited in the frames I checked by the audio and subtitles not syncing for any frame, correct? Thanks!
Hopefully a new ScenAid release will be out soon, but for now.. what versions of vsrip/vsconv should I be using (give me exact version numbers or the bytes for the executables)?

D3s7,
working on Miller's Crossing, had to do it by vobid because it has duplicate pgcs withn the 5th titleset.
#1 problem, dunno what its related to:
Info Multiplexing VOB Main Stream
Error (The duration is too short (2 frame(s)))
Error dvd_mux : Open Mux_list File Error
Error Terminated Multiplexing (mc.scn-VTS03_020_Track_t.vob).
Error Wrong timecode.
Error Multiplex is failed.
Info Multiplexing failed, Track<VTS03_020_Track>
#2 problem, Scenarist says that the output project will be bigger than the DVD-R size. When it starts muxing it shows 4,734MB which will be a 360MB overshot of what room I have left on the DVD. My VIDEO_TS after the menu compression is only ~60MB. I dont know for sure if the actual output will be in fact over the limit because of problem #1.
lmk, thanks!

Since I hadn't seen anything posted I went ahead and used .27 on a DVD and upon loading it into Scenartist.... Scenartist crashes! Very strange. Anything I should send you D3s7?

Does the movie have angles?
are you using scenarist 2.7?
If yes and yes, it's probably a non-seamless movie which doesn't work w/ 2.7
If no or no.... then just send me the scenarist_import.log file - if it doesn't exist, then yes... send me the script

d3s7:
any insights into my issue? i can send logs/ifos etc. thx!

heh.. started a reply then apparently never sent it.. sorry
1) It appears that one of the tracks (my guess is a still) is being reports in the ifo as only being 2 frames long... min for NTSC is 12 frames (PAL is 10) - this track could be a no-cce file as well which I've been having issues with... try renaming the .avs file to something different for this asset then rescanning.. that should correct the issue (of course a dummy will be used for that asset however if it's truely only 2 frmaes, you won't miss it :D )
2) I personally have had issues recently with oversized assets and I'm not sure if it's the newer CCE or newer BatchCCEWS that's doing it. Check your asset directories and compare original asset to encoded asset.. I'm guessing your going to find one of them is larger then the original.
There is also the slight chance there was an encoding/pulldown issue that's causing both issue 1 and 2.... again, compare original asset to re-encoded and see what you can find

Yes, it has angles.. and yes its 2.7, which version supports angles?
D3s7

it's "non-seamless" angles that cause the problem
3.0 supports them..
however, TBH, so few movies have those, I can't really say for sure the code is 100% on them....

Well... I'll let you know in a minute here if it loads... :)

Well it appears to still be loading.. 3.0 hasn't crashed, but I can't tell if its ACTUALLY working as there is no scrolling log of what is going on (like there was in 2.7). Alright, after changing some settings in scenartist, let me try again... this time with the information window in view..

That turned out to be the case, found the nocce file, removed the avs and let it rescan. worked like a charm.

the output turned out to be 4,997,918,720 Bytes which is definately quite a big miscalculation. i could not find a single encoded file that was larger than the original demuxed from dvd. i think the problem may lie in the demux by vobid procedure somewhere in dif4u, because i have a titleset with 13 pgcs out of which only 3 are original and theoretically the main movie bitrate should be calculated in accordance. let me know if any of the logs or ifos or anything are necessary or if i should bug eyes'only about this issue.

unfortunatly i'm not much help when it comes to bitrate calcs....
that's one of the aspects I haven't looked into anything about yet...
I'd think maybe it was something goofy w/ the scenarist script however that's quite an overshot in size

Ugh... vobsub is crashing now. D3s7 is anything new coming very soon so I can go back to life as we last knew it. :P
