D3s7 - Great job with this release. All the issues i had with .26 seem to be solved in .27revA. Excited to see the BOV development.

Nice work d3s7. Thanks for the ssubcolor adjustments and color options. So far it all seems to work fine. :)

Wow BOV creation support? Cool!
Does that mean that very soon now we can make a full backup of The Matrix without authoring it ourself? ;)
Just a regular Big3 backup without any intervention (except for the normal actions)..

Wow BOV creation support? Cool!

ATM it's just highlight creation and I think we still have a long way to go, since scenarist isn't very forgiving when it comes to BOV. But hopefully we'll have an automated way to do it soon :)

couple of little things... the BoV tick to show it's enabled doesn't update immediately, although i thing the choice does, u have to close and then re-open scenaid to see if it has changed. and an even smaller thing, it creates ScenAid26.SCP and i guess it should be ScenAid27.SCP now :)

gonna try some BoV stuff with it now and see how it does ;)

good job! the more i use the more i like it. i have a small feature suggestion -- a button or a check to ignore .nocce files on script creation. from my experience more ofthen then not they do not contain anything and end up being a pain in the butt when you compile in scenarist. up to date i've just been renaming the .avs'es and rebuilding and reimporting the .scp.

MLS
25th July 2004, 04:03
I think you can just delete the avs' prior to running Scenaid if you don't want them included.

well i understand that, mls. as luck would have it i find out that i have those files after i've started the mux process and it errors out some 99% into it. of course if i was less lazy i would reauthor seamlessly branched dvds with 100+ vobids and subs to boot all by hand.

well done on the new version.

Unfortunately, I have run into problems straight from the first movie of using it. To be precise, I'm working on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre extras disk and after importing flawlessly into Scenarist, when compiling, I get an error regarding a dummy file. Unfortunately I didn't copy the error log, however it was something like this :

Error Can not read a GOP at 00:00:00;09 (try to read = XXXXX B; read done = XXXXX B).
Error Please check the video stream (e:\Scenaid\dummy_pal_16_9.mpv) or the .vif file or re-generate them.
Error dvd_mux : DoMux Multiplexing Error
Error Terminated Multiplexing (XXXXX-XXXXX.vob).
Error Can't read the input stream.
Error Multiplex is failed.
Info Multiplexing failed, Track<VTSXX_XXXX>

Error MuxFromDB:MuxVTS failed
Error Multiplex failed
Error DVD files could not be created

I then installed Scenaid .25, recreated the .scp script, imported into Scenarist and everything was flawless. So I guess it's a problem with the latest build.

I'm really sorry I didn't get to keep the original error message though to help you out more.

I had some dummy problems as well, or problems with no-cee files. All real short sequences. What i do in these instances is create my own short video clips. depending on the number of frames I usually take a small piece of the main movie. You can just create an avs files with a trim command in it trim (0,25) will give you a 25 frames clip for example.

I recreate the track manually with the small clip. Can be helpful in situations things won't work inmediately.

Just tried on Mummy Returns (new superbit version) PAL, all OK except subs imported in black (outer and inner edge, 100% black), i changed to dark grey outer 100% and light grey inner 100% and they look like the original. I think there's been an issue with this before and it was fixed, haven't seen this happen for a long long time, lmk if you want logs.

Cheers ears

no-cce files are a real pain... even the newer versions of dvd2avidg still don't accuratly report the frames...

I'm looking into other ways to get an accurate framecount from these

f_speedy: I'll need to look into this error and let you know

chub : make sure you have "Use Original Palette" checked... if your have either of the Scenarist Palette's selected then this is exactly what you'll get

Tried BoV with Big Fish R2 and it didn't make any highlights. gonna try The Matrix R2 later today and see how it does :)

the bad thing is.. some no-cce files wont compile even manually imported without error (too many frames to be a still and too few to fill a vobu) . it would be nice to have an option to auto replace them with a nice generic safe black still

Same error that f_speed. Just adding that Scenaid crashes just after this error. It produces a 1 kb script. Lemme know if you need something

burnout : are you using the new vsrip/vsconv?? those are required for highlight creation... check if you have a .bov file and that it's not 0length.. if it is there is no highlights found

Bilbo/Fspeedy :Ok.. i found the problem causing the errors... and should have it resolved soon... shoot me your email addresses and I'll shoot you something to test

Trahald : yeah... i'll add something allowing a user to "deselect" specific video files and replace w/ dummies..

25th July 2004, 20:17
i send my email to your pm !!!!

i make a new test with the film finding nemo and i see a new error but it is not the fault of scenaid !!!i think !!!
but with the previous version the isn't this error : when doitfast4u launch scenaid for generating the script for scenarist, the working folder in scenaid have a fault => the real folder is E:\Travail and in scenaid it is E:\travail] !!!
i don't know from where the ] come !!!

@D3s7

My bad, imported subs in with 'Use Original Palette' and worked as you said, also tried since on Starsky & Hutch, imports as black without checking Original Palette, works perfect when its checked, how about setting this as default? and I promise to read 'whats new' rather than letting my eagerness to use a new release show me up!

Yeah I can probably do that...

As a note for all: I found a bug w/ VOBID demuxes causing subs to import goofy at times.. I've resolved in the code and having someone test now..

If it works, .28 will be coming out shortly

had to remake some dummy ac3s, because scenarist was bitching about # of channels etc and one of the PGCs in the scenario was only a place holder.

Tnx for the app D3S7.

I get the following scenarist error with Ice Age (PAL):
Error ERROR in Interleaving.
Error ERROR in making ILVU.
The PTSs are different at ILVU#14 in CELL#1 between angles.
Error Dvd_ilv : Reconfig Vobset Tree Error
Error Terminated Interleaving (iceage-VTS03_013_Track_t.vob).
Error Start PTS of ILVUs in each angle are deferent. The encoding paremeters should be same between angles.
Error Interleave is failed.
Error Multiplexing failed, Track "VTS03_013_Track"

Error MuxFromDB:MuxVTS failed
Error Multiplex failed
Error DVD Video files could not be created
VTS3 are the extras and PGC 13,14,15 all contain 5 angles.
If you need more info, please say so.

So, can I conclude that the script for angles doesn't work as it should yet? I have no experience with angles yet, so I don't have a clue how to fix it manually in scenarist.. does anyone have more info for me?

The angles aren't encoded as being angles. Two things to make sure in batchccews:

1) Angle checkbox is checked for the video
2) All angles that belong together have the sameamount of frames (should be ok if you use dvd2avidg)

Ok, the angle checkbox for those 3 PGC's wasn't checked in BatchCCEWS. I did check the angles checkbox in DIF4U, but didn't know that I had to check in BCCEWS too.
Ok thanks, I'll do another test later.

delete the vaf for those parts and reencode those again. the angles are just small parts anyway, shouldn't take long.

I still have problems with one of the harder DVD. For explanation, before demuxing with DIF4U i have stripped the unused AudioFiles and Subtitels with DVDshrink 3.2. Because i have no idea to get rid of them by other ways.

The DVD still works great with no errors. Every subtitle is show correctly at right time also the AudioOption shows no errors.

Now after demuxing by VOBID and generating the Script with the .27 still no errors. But at importing it into Scenarist I get alot of errors:

Error Class(Sub-Picture) Tag(Data End Time, XYZ) failed to paste

Error "Video Track "VTS01_XYZ_Track"" has only display mode for Subpicture Language "English". Please assign both Wide and Letterbox display mode to this subpicture stream, or create a different stream for .

D3s7
27th July 2004, 15:59
1) there's no nead to strip in dvdshrink first.. just unselect the sub/audio you don't want in doitfast4u and they won't be demuxed.. scenaid would simply replace w/ a dummy file

2) all DVD requires both a "Wide" and "Letterbox" (for a 16:9 title) or "Wide" and "PanSan" (for 4:3) selection on the subtitles..

In order to fix that error you'll need to select each Substream for the track in question and check the little "L" box next to it - probably just the "W" is currently checked

Doing #1 though would also fix it

XadoX
27th July 2004, 16:54
oh I thought the whole time that for VOBID demux there was no dummy audio/sub creation.

Ok then I will give it a trie ;)

D3s7
27th July 2004, 18:00
well you didn't say vobid demux

there's no audio dummy for vobid demux but if you ripping them out.. you don't need to dummy

Did you delete the vif files before reimporting? And delete the cache as well.

check in the data tab and make sure both angle assets are the same length... i've seen a number were one is a frame smaller or something

I have similar problem with a 1 frame difference between angles (scenarist crashes), how do I fix this? It's from 24, series 2 bonus disk. I can't ignore it as its in a huge VTS set.

EDIT - sorry, now read previous page, will see what settings there are in batchccews and try again.

influenza
28th July 2004, 15:23
Maybe it's better to start new threads in stead of using this one.
What is exactly the problem? If it is angles with different durations you can fix it in batchccews before encoding by lowering the last frame.

You might also be able to do it in scenarist. In the track editor click on the video asset and in the property browser lower the last frame. (make it and even amount of frames, otherwise scenarist will probably complain)

I get the exact same error message but ONLY after I have edited a sub .sst file (amended timings in subtitleworkshop, cut & paste the original header), but scenaid knows something is different, @D3s7 what is it checking against? All that is different are the timings have been adjusted by a few seconds for all the .bmps. I generate the script without subs and import manually into scenarist and everything works fine.

Is this a result of a sub problem?

Well, it seems the scenaid .27 installer does not copy over the custom vsrip and vsconv if 'newer' versions already exist (ie, from beta DoItFast4U builds, 1.1.0.7). At least for me. I managed to get the custom ones from the sceneaid.com website, but it was hidden so I am sorry D3s7 for downloading an unlinked (appearantly) file.

Basically I just wanted to point out the installer bug(is it?). And to ask if its really worth downgrading, if it can be called that, to the custom 1.0.0.6 version? I wanted to check out highlight creation, but I am just wondering if I should switch back after checking it out. Of course once BOV is in a more completed state its a no brainer :)

interesting.. that could explain a few of the problems people have been having.

I'm trying to resolve a few other minor issues here and hopefully we'll have a new build out

(button generation is in the works as well but I'm undecided if I want to include full support before or after 1.0)
