@Zeul,

for one or the other reason I noticed that NM loses its settings from time to time and resets to some strange defaults like 1/1 open gops, 1pass 500kbps bitrate, no ac3 correction. It has happened to me 3 or 4 times already and I'm at a loss why it could be going on.

not sure if this has been reported but it a lot of instances, after dif4u started numenu4u and then after processing the menus and numenu4u closes, the settings disappears. :|

Zeul has made some modifications to the routines for the registry to help prevent this problem

I've noted 2 times in particular that it happens
1) you close numenu while it's running - fix I've found is use thetask manager to kill the process

2) occationally happens if the application errors out.... not much you can do about this one.

What I've done is exported HKCU\Software\NuMenu4u and if it corrupts, i just restore that .reg

I tried this regedit export. The only problem is that my avisynth settings disappears everytime I import it back. Using WinXP SP1 and WinXP SP2 (2 machines for encoding).

First I would like to Thank you, Zeul, for this great tool :thanks:

I have a problem doing Pirates Of The Caribbean (French Pal) : the program freeze at the "Processing SST files" stage. I've tried it with different parameters, but have allways the same result...
Folowing are the last lines of the log file :

Note that I also tried it with an older version of NUMENU4U without success (the problem is not coming from the new subtitle processing), but this gave me some more information as the reported duration for the subtitle in VOB 4 was 0.
Also, when playing the menu, it appears that VOBID 4 is a transition video between two menues, and that it don't seems to contain any visible subtitle or mask.

Please, let me know if you need more files or information on this problem,

Hello. I have been using NuMenu4u for sometime (since the early days of the IfoEdit version) and have recently begun using the scenarist version.

I much prefer the way the new one works. However, I am noticing a problem, which I cannot seem to find documented or reported elsewhere on this forum.

I have attempted to re-encode the menu's on two region 4 dvd's: Ice Age, and The Last Samurai. Both DVD's have menu's in which the video data is encoded at 16:9 aspect ratio, and the buttons match this ratio, although they are obviously formatted to fit in a 4:3 pan-scan display.

The problem is that NuMenu4u always encodes the video and subsequent menus at 4:3 aspect ratio, giving everything that squashed look on my widescreen tv, with pillar boxes on either side.

I cannot seem to find an option anywhere to force numenu4u to use a 16:9 aspect ratio, so I surmise it tries to autodetect the aspect ratio. It is obviously failing in this.

I have scanned through the ifo's of both dvd's, and all video is listed as PAL 16:9, so I see no reason for failure.

I have also attempted to manually encode the video at 16:9 and edit the scenarist script generated by numenu4u, but there are so many areas in the script that depend on the aspect ratio, I see no easy way to fix this up.

Am I missing something obvious? Or is NuMenu4u not capable of re-encoding 16:9 menu's at this stage?

Thank you for your time if you have read this! James.

@jimbokoz

What AR is given by scenarist if you manually drop in the ORIGINAL m2v file? NB Nearly all menus are 4:3 pan-scan and not 16:9; if this is the case then the ECL should show pan = 1

BTW what version of cce are you using and is the result the same if you encode with rejig?

Another similar error : I use to encode menus w/1PassVBR (OPV) Q=30 or 35 adding two lines to my avs's :
LancZosResize(352,576)
Undot().Deen()
even if the original is interlaced or not.

I found everything squeezed by two large black vertical bars on the left and right and the reason was that while the avs result was 352,576 the .ecl related file still report width=720.

I throw up the bug by simply putting in the ecl width=352.
edit: I'm sorry , too fast posting. The bug was solved only after changing the line dvd=1 to dvd=0 in the .ecl .
I think this value is related with the DVD Compliant checkbox under "encoder" . Isn't it Zeul? Also the line width was changed , but now I'm not really sure it's needed!!!

@jimbokoz

I suggest you to put in your .ecl aspect_ratio=1 (16:9) instead of 2 (4:3). You can also try to use ReStream on your resulting .m2v (you'll find them in the New_M2v dir) to correct AR.

Bye!!!!

@jimbokoz

I am almost ready for a next rls, but am still waiting on these files. The aspect ratio is very important. I won't release until i am sure this is correct. see pm

@TuRiSOft

Never played with resizing, never saw the need to. I will try a few scripts and see what happens.

In some titles (Like "Il silenzio degli innocenti") the main menu (VTS_01_0) is about 1Gb and as it's made by only 6 VobIds the recompression pass tooks a real good time w/no significnt results.
W/ Half-D1 + Undot().Deen() you'll get about the same quality as the original at the cost of about 1/3 of the original.And the time wasted in encoding is less than too!!!!!

hey zuel,
an odd thing happened with a menu i was processing tonight that failed in the import - in the .scp file, instead of referencing all assets with a 'C:\21_Grams_Temp' the .scp file showed 'C:\21_Grams' as the prefix.
by simply replacing all references with the actual location, i imported, compiled and updated with no issues.
another thing i have noticed a lot of is the LFE attributes differing between assets in the VMG, as discussed here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=538774#post538774) .
by altering the .scp file to have the same attributes for LFE all compiled without a problem.
cheers

I have'nt backup up anything for a while now, but im just about to start work on scooby doo 2.The menu is progressive has a cbr of about 5mbs and is 200mb in size.After running it through the new numenu its down to 95mb and the quality seems very good even at 2 pass'.I have'nt checked to see in the functions work yet. So good work Zeul :)

Now i have it set to import,compile,close but it does'nt compile anything with scenarist i had to import the script and compile.It seems to be forgetting where scenarist is, every time i start the program it wants me to tell it where scenarist is.... any ideas as to why its doing these two things ?

Hi Master Yoda,
this was already discussed on the first page of this post.

Great programm Zeul I was happy to hear a new version will someday out :)

OK i uninstalled scenarist and re-installed it to the c:\program files although i would have prefered not to do this as i only put the os on c.but numenu still didnt import anything, so i loaded the ScenaristScript26_1.SCP into scenarist manually and output, now do i just cut the video_01_0.vob,ifo and bup to the video_ts folder that numenu made as all the other menu files except 01_0 are in there, also whats the vts_01_1.vob thats been created all about...??

jel
2nd September 2004, 01:44
just run the menu_ifoupdate.bat file (sorry cant remember the exact name)located in your temp folder and it will perform all the necessary steps for you. then just use the contents of the VIDEO_TS folder.

Master Yoda
2nd September 2004, 14:32
What menu_ifoupdate.bat file ??, i dont have one.

jel
3rd September 2004, 00:48
well the only thing i can think of is that numenu4u is still running or you force quit it before it was finished.
your folders should look something like this:

D3s7
3rd September 2004, 01:19
The batch file doesn't get created when your in full automatic mode...

change your script to say "Import/Compile" or just "Import" and it'll create that .bat for you

if you search the thread, zeul posted what it does for another user and the syntax to manually call the next step

Master Yoda
3rd September 2004, 22:14
I have looked through the thread but still after re-installing scenarist to c:\program files i still cant get it to import anything into scenarist.I used option 3 thins time, import and compile.But still it does'nt import anything so thats also why im not getting a bat file.

D3s7
4th September 2004, 17:33
has nothing to do w/ why the bat file isn't created... just set Numenu to "import" only and you'll get the bat file

you need to run the scenarist scan utility manually... if you searched the forums you would have found that info... that utility is in the Numenu install directly and the ScenAid install directory. Run it, it'll scan your Program Files for Scenarist. If not found there it will prompt you to browse for Scenarist.. then select ok

until you have done this, it won't import...

Master Yoda
5th September 2004, 03:45
OK, i ran ScenaristScan.exe now it does'nt scan for scenarist whihc is good as it now knows its there.But still it does'nt matter which option i select under the scenarist tab it still refuse's to import, compile and close.I tred just import script only but still it wont and still im not getting a bat file.

I tryed what seewen did move temporary files ..DEactivated, "intergrate with dif4u" DEactivated.But still no joy.

hey zuel
have another one for you
starsky and hutch pal.
error message in compile:Info
Info Creating DVD Files
Error Cell ( Cell:"VTS_1_034_01_t_scn_c"PGC:<VTS_1_en_P_3> (Language:<en_1> VTS:<VTS_1>) )

i noticed that this cell (a still) is used multiple times in the menu, some with cell commands (1: LinkTailPGC, button=2), however at the two locations with errors it had 'no command' selected.
all i did was deselect this so cell command was NOP, and it all compiled okay.
i can send you the logs, and .scp file if you like.
cheers
jon

oh and in hpuse of 1000 corpses (rather complex menu i must admit) it uses a display set to 100% to block the other animated menu buttons when you are not highlighting them, however for both instances of this it was set to 0% and was the wrong colour.
didnt take long to fix though.

Sorry how exactly can you fix this in Scenarist? I'm trying to backup Kill Bill 2 and they delay is something like 10 seconds until I can select anything. Do you go into Scenario Editor? I dont really know how to do this, sorry!

Thanks

Angelus,
the fix for this is the same in theory as adjusting subs/highlights for BoV.
select the appropriate menu track in the track editor.
now assuming you only have a single instance of the sub/highlight, you can adjust the 'start time to video' of the sub first, by selecting the sub only (not the whole stream ) and in the property browser (lower middle window), adjust the start time to more accurately reflect the original.
you will then need to adjust your highlight duration to match the amended sub’s start time.

Thanks for the quick reply. What I did was go into the track editor and clicked on Subpicture 1 on the little blue box display and it said the start time was something like 13 seconds (I think). The same for Subpicture 2. When I try to change the "Start Time to Video" in the bottom middle bo to something more reasonable like 2 seconds or 6 seconds, and then change the highlight start time to video to the same time i get this error:

Error No valid Sub-Picture exists for highlight 00:00:06:02 in Track(VTS_1_006_t) Sub-Picture stream 1.
Error No valid Sub-Picture exists for highlight 00:00:06:02 in Track(VTS_1_006_t) Sub-Picture stream 2.

oops ... bad jel.
sorry, forgot to add that with the highlight you will have to change the start time AND the duration time to match the subpics in stream 1 and 2.
because the subs have No-Stop, they will automatically extend their duration to the end of the scene but the highlight will not do this. you will have to manually change the duration as well, so that the properties for all 3 (substream 1, 2, and the Highlight) are all the same.

Angelus
13th September 2004, 14:56
hmm...I changed the start time to 00:00:00 and set the durations for all 3 items the same. Scenarist compiled correctly but then when I played it on here, it still seems that the delay is the same time :(

jel
14th September 2004, 00:00
dont know if it will help but try deleting your mux and cache folders and compile again.
are you running the menu_update_ifo.bat after compile?
also try testing your buttons in the simulation window prior to compiling.
beyond that ... no idea sorry.
