Hello,

I don't know how to contact with the author of VobSub, but I'd like to suggest that VobSub accepts compression formats for the .sub file other than RAR.

For example, I compressed a 13.0 MB .sub file if format 7z (www.7-zip.org) and I got a 1.45 MB file (2.30 with RAR maximum compression).

Also 7-zip is GPLed and WinRAR is shareware.

Well i m not sure about about it....tried 7zip but i have to tell u its not giving me smaller file than rar. try different compression settings like 4096kb dictionary size, force text and audio compression, create solid archive ..... etc.
good luck

With WinRAR I already use maximum compression parameters (-m5 and 4 MB dictionary, solid doesn't help as it's just one .sub file).

I forgot to say I used the PPMd method of compression in 7-zip (also "ultra" compression level and 1GB dictionary). It gives the best compression on several .sub files I've tried.

right it gives abit better result but it has less options (i know those are not required for compressing subs) and not that much popular.
