I have made a DVD from AVI source, and a subtitle in a .srt text file, using DVD2SVCD (AVI2DVD) and D2SRoBA - but that last shouldn't matter. Everything went well, apart from the <i></i> commands for getting a phrase in italic didn't work - the phrase is still normal, and worse, the <i></i> tags are still there. I got a final DVD, and everything else was fine - and I have selected not to delete any temporary files.
Looking at the log file I can't see if it's DVD2SVCD itself that takes the .SRT file and creates .PNG files, or if that is done by the Avisynth Subtitler.dll - and I don't know if there's a command to call.
What I want to do as a workaround, is this:
Save all work (files) DVD2SVCD has produced.
Remove the <i> tags from the .srt file.
Set the font to italic globally in DVD2SVCD (That's done at the "Ext. subtitle font") and change the "subs" directory to "isubs".
Redo just the .PNG file creation.
Manually copy those .PNG:s that should be italic (not so many) to the subs dir, reset the dir in DV2SVCD.
Redo the muxing in of the subtitles and then the DVDAuthoring.
Any suggestions (apart from posting in the DVD2SVCD forum, that's done a few days ago...)?
