I try to backup x-files season 1 box RC2.
I ripped episode 1-4 (1st DVD) with DVD Decrypter in IFO mode.
Then I took VobSub configure to get the idx/sub files.

1st episode: ok
2nd episode: empty idx/sub
3rd episode: empty idx/sub
4th episode: empty idx/sub

I took Smart Ripper 2.41 with the same results.
I even took VobSub 2.14 and 2.18. They crashed.

Media Player Classic (btw nice player :D) plays the subtitles of all episodes.

What went wrong? I would appreciate any help.

I got a solution. I took DVD Shrink.
I ripped a single episode (2nd) with the re-author function to hdd.
Then VobSub could handle the subtitles and created proper idx/sub files.

I had a look with IfoEdit into the ifo files (for the same episode) created by DVD Shrink and by DVD Decrypter.

DVD Shrink: There is only one program chain PGC_1 listed. Looks good, coz I chose only one episode.

DVD Decrypter: That ifo file seems to be identical to the original one on the DVD, with 4 epidodes on it, containing PGC_1, PGC_2, PGC_3,... . What the heck ? I used the ifo mode and selected only one episode, though.
DVD Decrypter then should adapt the ifo file, shouldn't it? :(
I am not an expert here. Is that a bug or purpose ?

Anyway, problem solved. :)

When you open VobSub config and select the subs, you have to remember on which PGC were the subs you wanted, because you have to select also the program chain in VobSub.

Lets say that you have ripped the episode which is on PGC_4. On VobSub
you have to select the appropriate Program Chain, otherwise you;ll get empty subs

Thank you. :)
So I can use DVD Decrypter again.
