What is the quickest way to detect forced subtitles?

Hi,
After learning about forced subtitles after my enounters with LOTR and the godfather trilogy, as a precaution I always check a DVD for forced subtitles before making a DivX backup. I do this by running the main movie's IFO through VobSub and checking if any of the subtitle are forced in VobResync. Although it is accurate, this method is rather time consuming - are there any quicker ways of checking for forced subtitles?

Dunno if this is any quicker, but it is possible to extract forced subs only directly from the VOBs using SubRip.

Of course, you'll need to use VobSub after this in the few cases where there are forced subtitles. Unless you want to use OCR.

What I would actually suggest is just playing the dvd in any player that lets you see what subtitle track is selected. If there's no forced subtitles it'll show up as none.

Otherwise I imagine there's some way to look at the menu structure and find this out, or just ripping the subtitles and taking a look at what is contained in the tracks with something like subresync that comes with vobsub can help (quite obvious when there's a track with only a small number of subtitles.)

From what I understand after doing some research on subpictures (subtitles), the forced start is indicated within each individual subpicture pack. Therefore, you cannot detect forced subtitles without scanning all the movie's VOB files.
