Subtitles And The Italic

HOW CAN I PUT SOME ITALIC WORDS IN THE SUP SUBTITLES?

I READ THE GUIDES, USE THE SRT2SUP AND... I GET THE <i> AND </i> IN THE SUBTITLES WITH NO ITALIC,

HELP.

Hi,

Using "text" based subtitles you can not have some words italic, only the whole subtitle.

For some words only italic you can do this with subtitle bitmaps, but this is not simple.

My next version of Srt2Sup will have character attributes support it's development by making a donation at:

The movie goes:
"The Cat Sat on the Mat"
And i got, after SRT2SUP:
<i>The Cat Sat on the Mat</i>

that's my problem,

Well, as I could see, there is just a little interpretation problem.
Nurseman: You will see in Srt2Sub like this: <i>The Cat Sat on the Mat</i> that means, when you create the sup file and remux the entire DVD, you are going to see: The Cat Sat on the Mat, exactly as it suposed to be.
Srt2Sub as far as I know does not display the italics, it just shows the parameters "<i>, </i>", but that does not mean you are not going to get italics after.
Just check it out.

Let me rephrase

1 - I have a DVD movie (The Fifth Element) and is R1 so don't have PT subtitles.
2 - I rip the english subtitles with SUBRIP 1.15 to srt format
3 - I translate to my language PT and save a SRT file
4 - I use SRT2SUP to make de bmp subtitles and multiplex a new DVD in IFOEDIT
5 - When play the DVD i get the <i> and </i> at the begining and end of the italic phrases and no italic.

Do i miss something?????

this explains it how I did it and srt2sups very own method which is probably a lot easier and quicker.

however I think it is possible to have individual words in italics
if you really really want to.

using srt2sup and probably paint or some other bitmap graphics package
load your srt into srt2sup save the srt as bitmaps (in the first menu)
I would use an empty directory for this.
now providing you know the number of the subtitle
you can load the bitmap into paint and use that to edit the bitmap
and create a single Italic word if you really really want to. this will be a time consuming job nobody will notice but you but nothing is impossible if you want it bad enough

reload the srt file as bitmaps and save the sup file

if you really want to get clever you could create some simple animation subtitle frames for quiet times in the movie.
and use subtitle workshop to time them in say 10 lines of A could be replaced by a 10 frame animation. you would probably need to tweak the duration to make it work well,

Nurseman: If you create the sup file with Srt2Sub as a text, and not as a bmp, you will not have this problem anymore.
